It really was a higher God that spared her....!!
Ruth the Mobaites who was to become the great grandmother of David, the King
of the Jews was supposed to be sacrificed for Kamosh, the stone-god they worshiped. However a blemish appeared in her arm and thus she was replaced. She always thought that Kamosh has spared her, but later came to learn that a superior God had a different purpose for her!! A great Biblical movie, I can never watch without tears in my eyes in the end. Do not miss it, even though it is not historically accurate 100%, yet it is true to the essense of the true events!
Enjoyable and haunts you long after you have seen it!!

Great Chrisitan love story!
The Story of Ruth is a great Chrisitan love story that is clean, wholesome, and family oriented. You cn enjoy this at church, Sunday school or youth group without any fear of profanity, sexuality, or nudity.

Great Movie! Not Quite Bible Accurate Considering...
The Book of Ruth that's portrayed in the Bible (King James Version) is extremely short, about five pages long; therefore, one must do some research to figure out how Ruth's saga unfolds. The Bible omits plenty of events surrounding Ruth's life such as her first husband and how she met him. It also omits how her husband, father-in-law, and brother-in-law died, which left Ruth's mother-in-law (Naomi) alone. The Bible also omitted Ruth's childhood. The movie provided viewers with a possible reason to how Ruth met her first husband and how he and the males in his family died. The movie portrayed Ruth as a beautiful ten-year-old who was sold to a religious cult by her dad because they were extremely poor. The cult used beautiful girls, like Ruth, by raising them like princesses, brainwashing them to honor their God called Chemosh, then killing them (or sacrificing them, as they put it) to show their love for Chemosh. These girls must be in perfect health with no blemishes or scars on their bodies. As a child, Ruth developed a sudden rash just before the sacrifice ceremoney and couldn't be used for sacrifice. She was allowed to grew up becoming some sort of princess in the cult. After she met a man named, Mahlon, who was a craftsman hired to make crowns for one of the little girl's sacrifice ceremony, Mahlon secretly teaches Ruth about the Heavenly Father. Mahlon convinces Ruth that it was God who spared her from sacrifice by placing that rash on her arm - not Chemosh. Mahlon evenutally married Ruth and was later killed by the cult for convincing her into adopting his religion. After Ruth escaped from the city with her mother-in-law, the story takes many interesting twists and turns. Only about 30 to 40 percent of the movie is Bible accurate, but since the Bible doesn't really give the full story of Ruth, one must do extra research to get an accurate depiction of her life. Ruth's story is important because she's a descendant of King David, his
great-grandmother. This was an excellent movie with great acting. The actress who portrays Ruth is extremely beautiful with a warm, caring personality - just like the Bible portrays her. The woman who plays Naomi also displayed a warm, caring personality. She was also beautiful inside and out just like a Saint. Her performance was captivating, in my opinion.

One of the most interesting movies....
This is one of my favorite bible movies. It's not exactly accurate, but how the movie shows what the culture may have been like is fascinating. The romantic slant doesn't hurt either. And Ruth's 30 second marriage beats all the Hollywood relationships hands down.
