Third album inside eighteen months from new classical crossover sensation Jenkins follows 2004's 'Second Nature'. Acting for the first time as co-producer, here she tackles a similar mix of fare as before. There are opera arias, including some usually sung by men; classic easy listening and show tunes; Welsh folk and a "classicized" version of Dolly Parton's 'I Will Always Love You', translated into Italian. Living A Dream
$23.39 Ingmar Bergman has stated that THE MAGIC FLUTE had long since been an inspiration to him by the time he directed this movie version of an actual staging of Mozart's opera. In Emanuel Schikaneder's libretto--performed here in Swedish instead of German--Prince Tamino (Josef Köstlinger) is sent by the mysterious and powerful Queen of the Night (Birgit Nordin) to rescue her daughter, Pamina (Irma Urrila), from the sorcerer Sarastro (Ulrik Cold), who has kidnapped the girl. Tamino is aided on his mission by the bird catcher Papageno (Håkan Hagegård), an endearing buffoon (and arguably the opera's most popular character) who wants nothing more than to find himself a loving wife. The director presents a shortened version of the story, enhanced with a Freudian plot element (of sorts), while also giving the piece a slight overhaul for a more modern, less politically questionable feel. Bergman shows the goings-on onstage, often zooming in for close-ups of the performers' interaction with one another, interspersed with shots of individual ...

| | Xenakis - Legende D'Eer DVD (2005)
Living A Dream
$24.25 The innovative mixed-media work of Iannis Xenakis is presented here. Composed in the late-1970s, this piece was especially commissioned to commemorate the opening of the Pompidou Centre in Paris. Designed to be played in a specially built room--which Xenakis conceived himself--the music was played over a three month stretch as the Pompidou opened its doors to the public for the first time. An impressive piece of work that illustrates Xenakis's unique contributions to the art and music worlds, this is a great way to experience the unique, singular vision of the now sadly deceased composer.
This DVD is a powerful 7-channel electroacoustic composition which Xenakis created in 1977-78 for playback in Le Diatope, a curvaceous architectural construction designed by the ...

| | Whitefeather Productions In Step - Advanced Ballet Music For The Final Years CD (2008)
Living A Dream
$18.35 In Step CD completes this series for all levels of ballet training. \"In Step\" offers teachers music for the final years of study with a definite increase of tempos, complexity of music and a wide variety of styles. Each track includes a four count introduction and 27 of 30 tracks offer 128 count bands. The selections of classical music will continue challenging advanced students technically as well as encourage their musical interpretations of movement. Whitefeather ProductionsWhitefeather Productions believes that there is a demand for ballet class music designed specifically for the needs of beginning, intermediate, advanced and pre-professional levels of training, and that each level of training requires a different musical emphasis. Founders Margarita White, Tatyana Featherman and Melinda Pendleton also feel that the process of early ballet training should include music of artistic merit, and as students progress onto more advanced levels of training their musical accompaniment should aid that process by growing with them. This high standard is the philosophy that underlies each Whitefeather product.Tatyana Featherman - PianistTatyana Featherman was born in the former Soviet Union, where she received her elementary music education in the Ukrainian city of Lvov. Upon completing her education in Odessa, Tatyana was engaged as an accompanist with Vodnic, a prestigious rhythmic gymnastic school. In 1982, Tatyana immigrated to the United States where she began working as an accompanist for Margarita and John White, directors of the Pennsylvania Academy of Ballet. During the ensuing years, Tatyana recorded three albums for ballet classes - \"Spirit of Movement,\" \"Harmony in Motion\" and \"Fire Within. \" While studying ballet at the academy, she attended John White\'s teacher\'s seminar, and began teaching ballet in addition to her work as accompanist. Margarita WhiteMargarita White, born Margarita de Saá in Havana, Cuba, studied ballet with Fernando and Alicia Alonso. Margarita joined the newly formed Ballet Nacional de Cuba rising through the ranks from corps de ballet to principal dancer. In addition to her dancing responsibilities, she learned the Vaganova teaching method from Soviet ballet masters, and taught in the new state school, Cubanacan. Margarita left Cuba with her husband, John White. In 1969, they were invited to join the Pennsylvania Ballet company where they remained until 1974, when they founded their own school, the Pennsylvania Academy of Ballet in Narberth, Pennsylvania. Margarita is considered an authority in the world of ballet. The Academy trains over 300 students each year, and many graduates are dancing professionally in companies around the world. Melinda ...
