Very Best of Roberta Flack album for sale Product Description

Very Best of Roberta Flack album for sale by Roberta Flack was released Feb 07, 2006 on the Rhino (Label) label. It's quite easy to place Roberta Flack near the top of the pile of singer/songwriters who changed the course of pop music, not only soul music, during the '70s. She was fortunate enough to deliver the velvet-smooth ballad "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" to an unsuspecting public, and followed it up with an onslaught of ballads that would keep her on the charts for the remainder of the decade. Very Best of Roberta Flack CD music contains a single disc with 17 songs.   ...See Full Description

Very Best of Roberta Flack CD music Initial pressings of THE JOURNEY included a bonus CD featuring 12" remixes. As one of the few performers from the disco era to have a career beyond one-hit wonder status, Donna Summer has continued forward on her creative path well into the 1990s, necessitating the release of the two-disc THE JOURNEY: THE VERY BEST OF DONNA SUMMER. Summer neophytes will get their share of this diva's classic '70s fare including soft-core anthems ("Love to Love You Baby"), streetwalker tributes ("Bad Girls"), erstwhile Jimmy Webb covers ("Macarthur Park") and songs that became ubiquitously associated with proms and weddings ("Last Dance"). Disco aficionados also get a taste of deeper cuts, including "Heaven Knows," "I Feel Love," and "Bad Girls." This set also features Summer's foray into more straightforward pop like "She Works Hard for the Money" and "This Time I Know It's for Real," the comeback dance-pop smash that also doubled as a collaboration with '80s production team Stock/Aitken/Waterman. Although the second disc only contains five songs, it showcases the lengthy extended versions of songs that dance music fans are accustomed to hearing. This means you get 12" inch remixes of "I Feel Love" and "Hot Stuff," along with an epic version of "You're So Beautiful" that clocks in at just under 11 minutes. Includes liner notes by Brian Chin. 2cds W/2 New Recordings. 1st Run Incl.Bonus CD W/4 Remixes. Personnel: Donna Summer, Barbara Streisand, Brooklyn Dreams (vocals); Giorgio Moroder, Vangelis (programming). Producers include: Pete Belotte, Giorgio Moroder, Gary Klein, Quincy Jones, Michael Omartian. Compilation producer: Bill Levenson.

Very Best of Roberta Flack album for sale Unfortunately, Atlantic's A Donny Hathaway Collection, one of the few career retrospectives available (and basically the only one in print), isn't quite definitive; it presents a version of Hathaway's career inordinately focused on his commercially successful duets with Roberta Flack, and his slowest, most dirge-like solo recordings. A few of his best up-tempo tracks are represented ("The Ghetto," his live cover of "What's Going On"), but not before haunted material like "I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know," and "Giving Up." Admittedly, his duets with Flack are among the best recordings of his career, ranging from the depressed ("Where Is the Love") to the atmospheric ("The Closer I Get to You") to the downright driving ("Back Together Again"). But A Donny Hathaway Collection neglects far too much material from his two greatest solo albums, 1970s Everything Is Everything and 1973's Extension of a Man, to be considered the perfect first choice. It may simply be a matter of embellishing the myth of the tortured artist, but this doesn't present both sides of the Hathaway legend. ~ John Bush The reissue was produced by Bob Porter. Live Recording Personnel: Donny Hathaway (piano, electric piano).

Very Best of Roberta Flack CD music The Spinners were rivaled only by the O'Jays as the greatest Philly soul group, and for that matter the greatest vocal group of the '70s. For listeners who don't want to dig as deeply as the excellent double-CD anthology One of a Kind Love Affair, Rhino's The Very Best of the Spinners is a stellar single-disc career summary that offers a concentrated dose of the group's sweet soul magic. It also serves as a primer on the best work of Thom Bell, Philly soul's "other" great producer besides the legendary Gamble & Huff team. Incredibly, every one of the 16 tracks here -- culled from 1970-1980 -- reached the R&B Top Ten, and half went all the way to number one on either the pop or R&B lists. As this collection demonstrates, the Spinners' massive popularity was well-deserved. Built around the magnetic leads of Philippe Wynne, their records were tastefully, elegantly romantic, full of adult heartache and longings as complex as the group's shifting harmonies. The compilers also license the pre-Wynne Motown hit "It's a Shame," co-written by Stevie Wonder, and include two disco-tinged medleys that returned the Spinners to the Top Ten for the last time at the close of the '70s. But the Wynne material is really the backbone of their output, and Thom Bell's gorgeous production frames his voice with just the right amount of sweetness. There's more to discover on One of a Kind Love Affair, but The Very Best of the Spinners is so solid from top to bottom that it's hard to argue with; one or the other is a necessary purchase for anyone even remotely interested in '70s soul. ~ Steve Huey Additional personnel includes: Dionne Warwick (vocals). Includes liner notes by Kevin Phinney. Digitally remastered by Bill Inglot & Dan Hersch (Digiprep). The Spinners include: Phillipe Wynne, John Edwards (vocals); Henry Fambrough, Billy Henderson, Pervis Jackson, Bobbie Smith (background vocals).

Very Best of Roberta Flack buy CD music Recorded between 1964 & 1981. Includes liner notes by Brian Chin. Though not as critically revered as label-mates Smokey Robinson and Stevie Wonder, the Supremes were the most popular Motown act of the 1960s. Not only did the group rack up a string of #1 singles, that, in terms of frequency and quality often rivaled that of the Beatles, they were one of the first black combos in America to truly achieve mainstream white acceptance. In many ways, the Supremes' music represented the Motown sound distilled to its essence; Hitsville USA's throbbing bass, relentlessly danceable drum beats, and ingenious arrangements were never so purely and perfectly geared for maximum pop appeal as on early hits such as "Where Did Our Love Go" and "Stop! In the Name of Love." On later, edgier tracks, like "You Keep Me Hangin' On" and "Love Child," the Supremes managed to adapt to the changing times without losing fans. Of course, even the Supremes' massive success couldn't match the superstar status garnered by their lead singer Diana Ross, with her definitive pop-soul classics such as "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" and "Endless Love." THE #1'S comes as advertised, collecting all of the Diana Ross and the Supremes chart-toppers and delivering them with excellent sound and eye-pleasing packaging. Diana Ross & The Supremes made history: an unprecedented five No. 1 hits in a row, 12 in total in the Sixties. In the Seventies, the group and Miss Ross went their separate ways. The Supremes, with Jean Terrell in the lead, hit No. 1 with Stoned Love. Diana Ross claimed the top spot as a solo artist on various charts nine more times on Motown. In fact, Miss Ross has sung lead on 18 No. 1 Pop hits, second only to The Beatles at 20. The Guinness Book of World Records has also recognized Diana as the most successful female artist of all time, with more than 70 hit singles to date. This new collection of No. 1's covers the full range of Motown excitement, 24 songs spotlighting two of the most influential stars of two decades: Diana Ross and The Supremes! `Diana Ross & The Supremes: The No. 1's' features newly mastered mixes of the classic Supremes hits, direct from the Motown session tapes, for the best fidelity in any Supremes and/or Diana Ross collection ever! Producers include: Brian Holland, Lamont Dozier, Frank Wilson, Nickolas Ashford, Valerie Simpson. Compilation producers: Harry Weinger, Andrew Skurow, Jeff Moskow. Personnel: Jean Terrell, Johnny Bristol (vocals). Audio Mixer: Suha Gur. Audio Remixer: Almighty Associates. Liner Note Author: Brian Chin . Recording information: Unit Four Productions, London, England. Editor: Suha Gur. Arrangers: David Blumberg; Gene Page; Clay Drayton; Lee Holdridge ; Michael Masser; Paul Riser; Tom Baird; Wade Marcus; David Van De Pitte.
