Rootsy country singer Trent Tomlinson's songs of barroom brawls, drinking, love, and loss are set against a stripped-down backdrop of rock & roll twang on his full-length debut. Though songs like "Hey Batter Batter," about your basic bar fight, and "The Next Time," about your equally straightforward misguided one-night-stand, might peg him as the poster boy for juiced-up, skirt-chasin' rednecks, Tomlinson is no muscle-bound country meathead. His sensitive side is on open display on "A Good Run," as well as "Angels Like Her," whose smart lyrics accurately conjure the ruins of a love affair, and he charts the rocky courses of both romance and hangovers with equal flair.

I would have to say that this is probaly one of the best country CD's i have ever heard! One of those CD's that you can listen to all the way threw and enjoy every minute of it. Its the only cd i own thats like that. Plus, i saw him at B93 Birthday bash last year, and he put on the best show...the only artist that was in crowd having a good time...it was sweet

A Rockin' Debut
A well rounded, awesome CD. New comer Trent Tomlinson storms onto the seen with this rocking album. With the basics of country music in the songs (drinking, relationships, and being proud) each song is pure gold. With the lead off and title track, "Country Is My Rock" the CD starts with a southern rock, country anthem. Along with that, he comes with the firey fight song "Hey Batter Batter" and the pumping Friday night to Saturday morning song "The Next Time". To offset those, he blends in more gentle, emotional songs such as "She Just Might Have Her Radio On" "A Good Run" and "One Wing In The Fire". This CD should and will appeal to every country music fan.

This is a pretty good debut I must say. Highlight songs for me would be the title track, One Wing In The Fire, Hey Batter Batter and Angels Like Her. I like his rebel type image too.

It's not a bad record... but far from great. I believe this guy is running around, but more observing than writing from experience as far as what he writes about. A live show may change my mind though!

Twain is not just a singer; she also co-wrote most of the songs with Lange, and they run the gamut from soft ballad to reeling rock.
