Lanterna is the name for the atmospheric instrumental project of guitarist Henry Frayne. Like Frayne's previous work, DESERT OCEAN has an expansive, cinematic feel to it, with layers of guitars, synthesizers, and drums creating a soothing, evocative sound that could easily be used as a soundtrack to an IMAX film. Listeners may be given to visions of cloud formations moving in time-lapse over vast natural landscapes.
Frayne clearly has a diverse, sophisticated ear, so it is not surprising to here the influence of U2's The Edge or jazz eclectic Bill Frisell in his playing.
