| | ATB Dedicated CD (2002) (Import) Bonus Track; Japan
20 Hits From 70S songs
$41.75 In grand pop fashion, ATB's first two albums featured a few hit singles and lots of forgettable filler, and though his third album, Dedicated, is an improvement, it's still driven by two or three great songs and lots of filler. The album's best moments feature vocalist Roberta Carter Harrison, a Canadian vocalist who perhaps unsurprisingly sounds quite a bit like Sarah McLachlan (another trance-pop star). In particular, "You're Not Alone" and "Hold You" stand out, both coming early in the album and propelled by gaudy synth melodies. Elsewhere, ATB stretches out a bit, trying to incorporate ...
| | Amelia Somewhere Left To Fall CD (2003)
20 Hits From 70S album
$12.15 "If there is such a thing as a "date album," this is one, and it's hard to imagine anyone not instantly falling for this gorgeous batch of gently smoldering, country-jazz torch songs. Waves of watery, tremolo and Latin-leaning guitar give these 11 songs their melting flow and are superbly supported by sedate yet steady rhythms and tasty touches of piano and other key-based instruments. There are, as well, splashes of accordion, autoharp, melodica, glockenspiel and several other elsewhere-underemployed instruments. Then there's Helgerson's voice-sophisticated and seductive, aged and weary yet fresh and filled with hope, clear as a bell and evocative while sounding eternally elusive. Placing such talents together, Amelia demonstrates a seamless union of identity, sound and purpose, and the first-rate production allows the band's beauty and brilliance to bloom in full."The Oregonian 1/27/03The Oregonian included Somewhere Left to Fall on the top ten best Portland releases of 2002 and said, "Somewhere Left to Fall," Amelia (self-released):The breakup a few years ago of alt-country favorites the Flatirons was a shame, a shining promise squandered. But one of that band's songwriters, guitarist Scott Weddle, regrouped with the old rhythm section and a new singer, Teisha Helgerson, whose alluring voice holds center stage in these dusky, soulful treks to the shadow realms of the heart. A new promise is bearing fruit." 1/03/02 "This band is all aboutmood and melancholy. Fueled by singer Teisha Helgerson's jazz-inflected despondency, Amelia steers clear of prairie thunder and heads straight for the gypsy camp, replete with near-tango tempos and Scott Weddle's simmering guitar pluck."The Portland Tribune11/22/2002 -----------------Enough of that! Thank you for the encouraging reviews, e-mail, and for making a place for Amelia in your music collection. We very much appreciate your continued support!
This record has a definite jazz hue throughout it, courtesy of the sultry and whispering delivery of Teisha Helgerson. Her tone on the midtempo, adult contemporary style of "Wings" brings to mind a mix of Rosanne Cash and Natalie Merchant. The arrangement on the song is another strong asset, a fusion of country, folk, and jazz. "Marigolds" has a light pop radio-friendly flavor to it, with Helgerson never missing the mark from start to finish. Musically it could be stronger, ...

20 Hits From 70S songs
$9.85 Tatiana Grecic http:// tatiana.core-age http:// soundclick /tatianagrecicTatiana has been making music for as long as she can remember. She started playing piano at the age of four; singing at the age of nine; and composing at the age of ten. Her first piece "Arabian Nights" was performed with choreography while she was still in elementary school. Then, she won "The October Prize in Composition" in Belgrade, Yugoslavia at the age of eighteen. Somehow, that prize influenced her life. Soon after, she was admitted to The University of Arts in Belgrade to major in composition and piano. She completed her BFA in 1988 and received a letter from Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with an offer for a full scholarship. Since 1991 she has been exploring the sounds of pop-rock, new age, and jazz fusion. She was then frequently involved as a singer, keyboard player and a songwriter, performing with several bands in Pittsburgh including: The Zee Steel Band, Seventh House, Sweet Madness (her own original band), and Side Effect Green (a cover band). Her original ...
