This dualdisc includes the complete album on the CD side. The DVD side includes a film by Bela Fleck and Sascha Paladino titled Long Way Home: A Flecktone Journey. This revealing behind-the-scenes film is filled with interviews and perforamnce. The short film humorously documents the return of the Flecktones to the studio to begin their rehearsals for the recording ...
The Flecktones do it again. I am a consistent fan of Bela and his Flecktones, so I don't pass up an opportunity to buy any of his albums. He has embraced the new technology, so I recommend the enhanced CD if you have a surround sound system to support it. The video is quite humorous as well.
The music variety is diverse, as usual for the group. The album starts with a brief rendition of a Bach fugue and segues into a brilliant up-tempo bop tune with great soloing from everyone. The Flecktones hit all bases on this album, from bluegrass to the Eastern-inspired, with virtuoso performances throughout. The album manages to be more cohesive than previous efforts as well.
This is a great album to have both as an introduction to the group and certainly is a must-have for the die-hard fan. Submitted by neuro.sax (Cabin John, MD) Was This Hidden Land Music Review Helpful? YesNo
