(9 Customer Reviews)
San Francisco-based outfit Train have garnered a rabidly devoted following with their easy, freewheeling sound, which combines catchy hooks with the muscle of classic FM and the polish of contemporary mainstream rock. Train's 2004 live album helped summarize the band's career to that point by showcasing their instrumental chops, their confidence as performers, and the scores of crowd-pleasing tunes from albums like DROPS OF JUPITER and MY PRIVATE NATION.
2006's FOR ME, IT'S YOU will not disappoint Train's fans. In fact, the group's sunny, singalong melodies are sharper than ever here, as the album's lead-off tracks--the downtempo, alternately pulsing and soaring "All I Wanted" and the chiming pop of "Get Out"--demonstrate. Strains of piano, light strings, and vocal harmonies are seamlessly integrated into the traditional rock instrumentation on wistful tunes like "Cab," while anthemic rockers like "Am I Reaching You Now" inspire upheld lighters. On the whole, FOR ME, IT'S YOU shows Train improving on their highly successful formula with ever-sharper songwriting.

It doesn't get more boring this this CD. After repeated listenings it gets worse. Stick with Train's first 2 releases instead. Submitted by MAX (Long Island, NY) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.
Just Keeps Getting Better What do Train and a bottle of wine have in common? They both are better with age. Every time I hear something new from Train, I am reminded of how far they've come since their debut. Whereas it had silly lyrics about wrestling alligators, "For Me It's You" demonstrates their maturity as a band, with incredible songs like "All I Hear". Train has truly improved over the years, and whereas I used to brush them aside as a fly-by-night band, now they continually impress me and I really enjoy listening to them. Train's BEST since their Debut Album!!! It's about time! That's my first thought after hearing this album. Why? Because Train's debut album is STILL and forever will most likely be one of my TOP 10 FAVORITE cd's of all time! Yep, their debut, which I had got buy because "Meet Virgina" sounded like maybe the guy could sing, and I had to check out the entire disc. I got the absolute surprise of my life! My brother, who was staying with me at the time, would always say, day after day, "AGAIN?!?!", because I would play Train's debut album over and over and over until it was driven into my head. Okay, I'll admit, I don't care much for the song "If You Leave" due to it's upbeat, too fast tempo. It is the ONLY song on the disc that I NEVER listen to since I bought the album the month it came out. So anyway, there I was, an instant Train fan. But I was sure in for an unpleasant treat when their second and third albums came out, and the rest. Especially Drops Of Jupiter. What a disappointment! It sounded like they ran out of words to put into their songs, because every other word was "Nah Nah Nah Nah...". So, even though I purchased EVERY Train cd that was ever released, I sold them all back to Warehouse Music within days. But I kept their debut cd, and still listen to it a few times a week or more! So, was I in for a shocker to hear that they came out with new album! Yet I was skeptical, and figured it would be as disappointing as Drops Of Jupiter. NOT!! THIS album is AWESOME! In fact, I would call it the SECOND best album they have recorded. I love this cd, and might end up listening to it almost as much as their first one (okay, maybe not). I love their slowed down tempos, the vocals are awesome, and the music rocks! Yep, this album has given me hope again that Train will finally release albums that I will again buy. I hope somehow they have a chance to read some of the reviews they get for this album. That would be awesome. Now all we need is for their next album to be as good as their debut, and Train will have me calling them one of my all-time favorite bands! This album shows me that they spent a little more time working on lyrics and perfecting them, unlike their prior releases after their first, which gave me the idea they were just writing songs to fulfill a contract. Train fans, you will LOVE this album. Non-Train fans, you will LOVE this album. Submitted by hairball98498 (Tacoma, WA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Train forever! The best rock album of the year... Submitted by w.h.auden (Hungary) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
A Welcomed Return I think Max needs to go back and listen to the bands first two albums and then to this, as it sounds just like both of those albums.
I was skeptical going into this record, having disliked all but two tracks on the bands last release.
The band hit a rough patch both personally and professionally with their horribly trite release "My Private Nation", which was a rushed mess sacrificed to the world at the hands of their label.
this new release finds the band returning to their mildly alt country roots and sounding refreshed and happy once again. the addition of new band members is a tricky thing in most cases, but the new guys add a brightness that was no longer there in the original lineup.
highlights include "All I Ever Wanted", "For Me, It's You", and the new single "Cab", which is quite possibly the best song the band has ever recorded together.
I highly reccomend this record to any Train fan, new or old. Submitted by Carrick (VA Beach, VA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
