The U.K.-based supergroup Incognito released their 11th career recording and it's a sleek, pop/jazz offering that will have you swinging and swaying to their groovy guitars, big horns, and soulful vocals. This is the first time the group has recorded with its touring band and it's a whole new groove. This sophisticated take on acid jazz features such great songs as "Baby It's Alright," "Show Me Love," and "As Long as It's You." The soulful vocals of Maysa Leak and Imaani bring a great dimension to Jean-Paul "Bluey" Maunick's company and it's definitely a keeper. ~ Paula EdelsteinJazzTimes (p.82) - "Maunick and team bring what they have done for more than 25 years: in-your-face instrumental funk and vocal tunes that are steeped in positive-vibes." Incognito sails on........ The sheer competence of this group is getting scary at this point. I mean one album after another they come up with the same smoothness and refinement with ease it seems. I was immediately taken by "Baby It's All Right" and "As Long As It's You". Surprisingly those two songs don't feature Maysa! Another brilliant practice of Incognito comes through here, the changing of the lead female vocalist from song to song. Don't worry though Maysa is here in her typically distinctive form on "When Tomorrow Brings You Down". Then you have the supporting cast of songs like: "We Got Music", "Will I Ever Learn", and "I'll Get By". The sound here is traditional Incognito with something different thrown in for good measure as in my two favorites I mentioned above. I can’t believe that I’ve been a fan of this group since at least 1994 and they’ve yet to disappoint.

All Class Incognito's Eleven is all class. I'm a huge fan of Incognito, and never been disappointed with any of the CDs. Favourite songs - We Got Music and When Tomorrow Brings you Down, brings sunshine to my heart. The beautiful vocals by Maysa is such a great addition to the collection of songs. Eleven is excellent for background music, and real smooth for dance! Submitted by Michy Moo (Melbourne, Australia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
