| | Terry Gilliam's Personal Best DVD
Closed Captioned; Standard Screen; Additional Footage; Soundtrack English Selected by Terry Gilliam (THE BROTHERS GRIMM, BRAZIL) himself, this collection is comprised of the best animated skits from the original Monty Python TV show, MONTY PYTHON'S FLYING CIRCUS. Airing on the BBC from 1969-1974, the show was the birthplace of much of the hilarity and irreverent absurdity that the Pythons developed in later films, and Gilliam's animation contributed much to the legend. | | Electric Light Orchestra A New World Record - Expanded Edition CD (1976) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Terry Gilliam's Personal Best review
$7.59 Also available in a 3-pack with FACE THE MUSIC and DISCOVERY.
1976's A NEW WORLD RECORD is both a classic of commercial '70s pop and an archetypal ELO album. From the outer-space synths and rich orchestrations that open the album to Jeff Lynne's meticulous production and Beatlesque melodies, A NEW WORLD RECORD is magnificent ear candy. Both ambitious enough to appeal to "serious" rock fans and ultra-catchy enough to sound terrific on Top 40 radio (the plaintively gorgeous, McCartney-like "Telephone Line" and the anthemic "Livin' Thing" were well-deserved smashes), ELO was one of the few '70s bands whose appeal covered both the FM and AM spectrums. The album even resurrects "Do Ya," a classic single by Lynne's former band, the Move, in a splashy new version.
The next ELO album, 1977's elaborate double-album OUT OF THIS WORLD, was probably the band's commercial high point, but A NEW WORLD RECORD is the group's artistic high-water mark.
Jeff Lynne reportedly ...
| | Electric Light Orchestra On The Third Day CD (1973) Bonus Tracks; Remastered; Expanded Edition
Terry Gilliam's Personal Best DVD
$7.59 In some ways, 1973's ON THE THIRD DAY is the first "true" ELO album. Though co-founder Roy Wood had left the band to form the more experimental Wizzard after the first album, his influence was still all over 1972's ELO II, especially on the ...
| | Neil Young & Crazy Horse Live At The Fillmore East CD (2006) With DVD
Terry Gilliam's Personal Best movie DVD
$21.29 Neil Young's in-concert guitar prowess with Crazy Horse is well documented. LIVE AT THE FILLMORE EAST, recorded at a 1970 performance, nevertheless, fills a major hole in the Young legacy, containing the only live recordings of Young's legendary guitar interplay with original Crazy Horse member Danny Whitten, who died the following year. Performing songs from their most recent release, EVERYBODY KNOWS THIS IS NOWHERE, the band simultaneously digs in with a visceral, gritty gestalt, and expands outward with Young and Whitten's exploratory six-string journeys.
Of added interest to hardcore Young fans are performances of three songs that wouldn't be recorded until years later--the countrified "Come on Baby Let's Go Downtown," the elegiac "Winterlong," and ...
| | Beatles Love CD (2006) Wdva; Special Edition; Digipak
Terry Gilliam's Personal Best video
$20.89 Martin's relationship to the band gives him a unique perspective (not to mention access to a vast catalogue of multi-track tapes), which results in a shape-shifting overview that encompasses demo recordings, instrumental passages, and snippets from some of the best-loved Beatles tunes. Beatles fanatics will be in seventh heaven playing "name that reference" on this sonic carpet ride, but LOVE also provides something of an "overture" to the Beatles' oeuvre. The SPECIAL EDITION comes with a bonus audio-only DVD featuring the album in various stereo mixes.
Love is the title of the highly successful Cirque du Soleil show featuring the music of the Beatles, currently wowing audiences in Las Vegas. The music for the show, ...

Terry Gilliam's Personal Best film
$23.39 BEWITCHED: Director Nora Ephron (SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE, YOU'VE GOT MAIL) breathes new life into the classic television show BEWITCHED in this romantic comedy of the same name. Movie star Jack Wyatt (Will Ferrell) had it all--until he made a few bad films and his wife left him. Now the washed up star is slated to play Darrin in a remake of the 1960s sitcom about a mortal man who unknowingly marries a beautiful, good-hearted witch. Determined to resuscitate his career, Jack and his agent, Richie (Jason Schwartzman), demand that an unknown be cast as the witch, Samantha, in order to maximize his screen time and star power. After an exhaustive search for the right actress--and the perfect nose wiggle--Jack spots Isabel Bigelow (Nicole Kidman) in a book store and is convinced that she can be the new Samantha. And right he is; Isabel really is a witch who is determined to try life--and hopefully love--without magic, much to the chagrin of her debonair warlock father, Nigel (Michael Caine). Immediately drawn to Jack, Isabel follows her heart and takes the role only to discover that he has no plan to share the spotlight ...
