At 10 tracks, this Freddie Hart best-of collection is a bit skimpy, but it still covers all the best-known hits by the honky tonk-flavored country-pop artist. Although Hart began recording in the 1950s, he didn't hit his commercial stride until the early '70s, when the sweet, lilting "Easy Loving" became a runaway hit. That tune is included, of course, along with tear-in-your-beer numbers like "Bless Your Heart" and emotive love songs like "Got the All Overs for You (All Over Me)." Hart isn't afraid of lush arrangements, and rarely ups the tempo past mid-level, but his expressive songs of longing are the stuff barroom ballads are built on. BEST OF offers an introductory crash course in all of these styles and more.
This is an enjoyable sampler highlighting Freddie Hart's honky tonk hits from the early '70s for the Capitol label. These ten tracks mirror the out of print Cema Special Markets package with the same running order but different cover art. This short collection provides a decent introduction to Hart's best material, including the original versions of "Easy Loving," "Bless Your Heart," "Got the All Overs for You (All Over Me)," and "Trip to Heaven." ~ Al Campbell
At least the fifth compilation to be titled The Best of Freddie Hart, this one -- released in early 2006 by EMI -- contains the same exact content as the same-titled discs released by EMI in 1997 and by Collectables in 2003. Though it is succinct, it contains each of Hart's '70s charting singles, such as "Easy Loving" (the one that rejuvenated his career in 1971), "Got the All Overs for You (All Over Me)," "My Hang-Up Is You," "Trip to Heaven," "If You Can't Feel It (It Ain't There)," and "The First Time." Each one of these songs placed in the Top Ten of the Country Singles chart. ~ Andy Kellman
The Best of Freddie Hart is part of EMI-Capitol Special Markets' excellent Ten Best Series, a budget-line series that features an artist's ten biggest hits in their original recorded versions. This disc contains ten of Hart's biggest hits for Capitol Records -- including the number one singles "Easy Loving," "My Hang Up Is You," "Bless Your Heart," "Got the All Overs for You (All Over Me)," "Super Kind of Woman" and "Trip to Heaven" albeit not in chronological order. Nevertheless, the very fact that all these hits are on one disc at such an affordable price makes The Best of Freddie Hart a terrific choice for budget-minded casual fans. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

CD $17.09
In the summer of 1977, Dean Friedman marked his entry into pop consciousness with the enormous success of his infectious hit single Ariel, a quirkily irresistible and uncategorizable pop song about a free spirited, music loving, vegetarian Jewish girl in a peasant blouse who lived, as the lyric goes, "...way on the other side of the Hudson."A year later, Friedman struck again, this time with a magical duet, performed with singer Denise Marsa, entitled Lucky Stars. Lucky Stars zoomed to the top of the UK singles charts going instantly gold. The now classic single Lucky Stars paved the way for a slew of hits off of Friedman's humorously titled album "Well, Well" Said the Rocking Chair", including familiar tracks such as Lydia and Rocking Chair as well as singles from his first album, Woman of Mine and Ariel."An amazing Talent" - The Sun, "Outstanding" - Record Business, "Songsmith extraordinaire! A great performer!" - Music Week. "Immaculate writing and magnetic personality" - Cumberland News, were just of few of the superlatives used to describe Friedman's powerfully unique and original talent.Although Friedman's next single, McDonald's Girl was ...

Personnel: Johnny Griffin (tenor saxophone); Junior Mance (piano); Wilbur Ware (bass guitar); Buddy Smith (drums).
As a CD reissue, it's a crime that this very first outing by Johnny Griffin as a leader is only available from Japan in an irritating paper sleeve that comes apart down the center. OK, enough bitching. Here's the skinny: Griffin's first date featured the saxophonist in the company of Junior Mance on piano, bassist Wilbur Ware, and session drummer Buddy Smith. The program features eight tunes that were fairly standard fare for jazzmen in 1956, such as "These Foolish Things," Jerome Kern's "Yesterdays," and the Youmans-Greene nugget "The Boy Next Door." These are played with the requisite verve and mastery of harmony, rhythm, and melodic changes, but they don't really stand out. What does stand out in this program are Griffin's originals, such as "Satin Wrap," which has since been covered by any tenor player worth his mouthpiece. It's a funky blues number that does not fall headlong into the hard bop swinging that would be so pervasive in the tenorist's style. Instead there are more formalist notions that suggest Paul Gonsalves and Coleman Hawkins. In addition, the album-closer, "Lollypop," comes out swinging hard with an R&B hook that digs in. Mance propels Griffin with fat, greasy chords that suggest a Chicago ...

Welcome 2 Tha B-Side: The Rap Alternative
B-Dash Welcome 2 Tha B-Side: The Rap Alternative CD  (2009)

B-DasH (DasH) have doing music for about 10 years now. Long time. Anyway; I first started rapping when I was in high school (9th grade) and beat boxing in middle school (6th grade). I liked rapping and was really into producing beats. I met Tay (Dramatic) in college - North Georgia College & State University. We hit the music thing off well. We have the same taste in music, styles, and artists. I would freestyle around campus to instumental beats from a tape player. Tay became one of my close friends then so I had him come to a studio with me to see if I could do it. We had never been recorded before. I spit a couple of freestyles for this producer (no big name some local dude) and he was digging my style - the fast spitting and singing. Tay spits a freestyle (which he doesn't do) and dude is like "This dude is garbage !" I get pissed; he's like "Forget dude!" and then started writing rhymes. We do this song that came from a freestyle that I spat that day at that studio. Song: "ATL Raisin' Hell" . Tay's (Dramatic) delivery is angery and sick; mine crazy and fast. We then call ourselves 'Deadly N-10-Shuns' a group made up of B-DeaD & Dramatic; it was crazy then. We changed the group name to 'Fire & Water' to respresent ATL AkA Hotlanta (Fire) where he (Dramatic) is from and California (Water) where I (DasH) came from. Now I'm from ATL since I've been here for about twenty years. We went to some more studios and they were too expensive! I start a studio so we could record our vocals and produce beats. South & West Dimension Studios is born. I used studios and not records cause I do graphic designs, video editing, drawing, album art, and disc art. We hand out a lot of demos and people are loving it. I meet this dude Bullet (Immortal Bullet) and produce an EP for him (The Broke & Pissed EP) - Single "Broke & Pissed Off". I meet back up with a dude from High School and he joins our group for a little bit, we call ourselves 'LeveL 9'. North,South, and West rappers together (B-DeaD, Dramatic, and Cheeda/Dominion). We get back to our thang after he does a couple of songs with us. We complete an album 'ELE-Mental 4-Sez' ; Fire & Water's first LP. A double disc album. We preform at Celebrity Rock Cafe' in Buckhead; Atlanta, Georgia. The song "ATL ...
