Personnel: Ahmad Jamal (piano); Larry Ball (bass); Herlin Riley (drums); Iraj Lashkary (percussion). Personnel: Ahmad Jamal (piano, keyboards); Larry Ball (bass instrument); Herlin Riley (drums); Iraj Lashkary (percussion). Ahmad Jamal was never as distinctive on electric piano as he was on the acoustic counterpart, making this two-LP set, Digital Works, (which finds him doubling) a slight disappointment. Jamal does play well throughout, engaging his sidemen (bassist Larry Ball, drummer Herlin Riley, and percussionist Iraj Lashkaryl) in close interplay, but no new revelations occur on such remakes as "But Not for Me," "Wave" and Jamal's greatest hit, "Poinciana." Good music overall, but not essential. ~ Scott Yanow Ahmad Jamal Digital Works Songs Digital Works Review

Digital Works
$38.89 Japanese pressing of the Brazilian jazz pianist/vocalist's 2002 album includes one bonus track 'Contigo Aprendi'. BMG.
Personnel includes: Eliane Elias (vocals, piano); Rick Margitza (tenor saxophone); Randy Brecker (trumpet, flugellhorn); Marc Johnson (bass); Paul Braga, Joey Baron (drums, percussion). Photographer: Danny Miller . Arranger: Eliane Elias. For a long time, Eliane Elias seemed like a fixture at Blue Note. The Brazilian singer/pianist started recording for that well-known jazz label in the late '80s, and she was still on Blue Note when the 21st century arrived. But in 2002, Elias did the unexpected and moved to RCA; Kissed by Nature is her first RCA release. For the most part, this is a vocal album, although Elias does get in some likable solos -- and this time, she emphasizes relaxed, laid-back Brazilian pop-jazz. Kissed by Nature is essentially Brazilian easy listening, although it isn't bloodless elevator Muzak; ...

Arrangers: Debbie Pritchard; Lewis Mottram; Stuart Moxham. When Stuart Moxham left his post in the legendary Young Marble Giants he created the Gist, a loose project where guests like Epic Soundtracks plus ex-Giants Alison Statton and Phil Moxham would make cameos over Stuart's iffy experiments. The Gist lasted for only one album, Embrace the Herd, which Moxham has often dismissed as misguided and ...
