| | Nina Simone Let It All Out CD Nina Simone Discography of CDs
Let It All Out is one of Nina Simone's more adult pop-oriented mid-'60s albums, with renditions of tunes by Duke Ellington ("Mood Indigo"), Billie Holiday ("Don't Explain"), Irving Berlin ("This Year's Kisses"), and Rodgers & Hart ("Little Girl Blue"). As ever, Simone ranges wide in her selection: Bob Dylan's "The Ballad of Hollis Brown," a swaggering adaptation of "Chauffeur Blues" (credited to her husband of the time, Andy Stroud), the gospel hymn "Nearer Blessed Lord," and Van McCoy's "For Myself." "Images" is an a cappella adaptation of a poem about the beauty of blackness by Waring Cuney. All of Simone's Philips albums are solid, and this is no exception, while it isn't the best of them. This LP has been combined with the 1965 album Pastel Blues on a single-disc CD reissue. ~ Richie Unterberger
Available with PASTEL BLUES on 1 CD.

Let It All Out CD music

Originally released on Reprise (6019), Reprise (6049) & Reprise (6073).
This double CD is more about Barney Kessel the studio player than Kessel the jazz guitar legend. Still, this compilation of three LPs originally released between 1961-1963 has some good music, and Kessel the jazz man is not entirely absent, even though the settings do not call for him to stretch out.
Breakfast at Tiffany's is Kessel's handling of Henry Mancini's music from the classic Blake Edwards film with Audrey Hepburn. With a number entitled "Moon River Cha Cha," listeners pretty much know what's in store for them with this set: instrumental treatments of pop music that was riding high both on the airwaves and on the big ...

| | Cris Williamson Postcards From Paradise CD
Let It All Out music CDs
$14.69 Singer/songwriter Tret Fure first worked with Cris Williamson as an engineer on Williamson's children's album, Lumière (1982), after which the two became domestic partners and contributed to each other's albums, with Fure helping add a more produced, harder-rocking sound to Williamson's LPs Prairie Fire and Wolf Moon. With Postcards from Paradise, the two abandoned their solo careers to form a permanent duo act. The album, which contains five songs written by Williamson, four by Fure, and two co-compositions, leans more to Williamson's typical sound than Fure's. It's folk-rock, with many of the arrangements piano-based and containing hints of country and Native American styles here and there. (Fure on her own is more of a rocker.) "Little World Spinning Blue," with its pledge to be "forever, together," is an appropriate curtain raiser, introducing a series of story-songs, sometimes based on plays, "true" stories, or events in the songwriters' lives. "Living On" depicts a single father, while "Something Blue" is a sad reflection on homophobia; ...

| | Zebula Avenue Life Will Be Fine CD (2007) Bonus Track
Let It All Out songs
$9.05 Zebula Avenue, which began under the name 47UMa by singer/songwriter/guitarist Gail Baker in Detroit in 1996, have developed into a true hybrid ensemble that matches R&B and rock roots to a variety of world music styles, especially including reggae and South African music. The tracks may be sung in English, French, Spanish, or Swahili, and the group has long since become much more than just a vehicle for Baker, who shares vocals with Maggie McCabe and Maureen Honoré. Honoré in particular is an important element, not only because of her multi-octave voice, which she shows off on such songs as the sexy "Hold Me," but also because she contributes as a songwriter, on that track and others. James Niemi's hard rock guitar solos keep the music familiar, even when the rhythm section, with its exotic percussion, is engaged ...
