Both commercially and creatively, Who Do Ya Love was a step down for KC & the Sunshine Band. This 1978 LP followed 1976's Part 3, a superb album boasting four gems that reached the Top Five on Billboard's R&B and pop singles chart: "(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty," "I'm Your Boogie Man," "Keep It Comin' Love," and "I Like to Do It." But the biggest hit on Who Do Ya Love, a remake of the Four Tops' "It's the Same Old Song," only reached number 30 on Billboard's R&B singles chart. And other singles from this LP didn't fare that well; "Do You Feel All Right" went no higher than number 62 R&B/number 63 pop, and the title song struggled to make it to number 88 R&B/number 68 pop. So is Who Do Ya Love really such a bad album? No, it's actually a decent, if unremarkable, collection of disco-funk and disco-soul, some of which incorporates Latin or Caribbean elements. But when you have been cranking out five-star albums, an LP that is merely decent is going to seem disappointing. And when you have had several number one hits, you aren't going to feel triumphant when your Four Tops cover peaks at number 30 on Billboard's R&B singles chart. Again, Who Do Ya Love isn't a bad album, but after KC & the Sunshine Band in 1975 and Part 3 in 1976, one expected a lot more from the South Florida outfit. ~ Alex Henderson K C & The Sunshine Band Who Do Ya Love Songs Who Do Ya Love Music Review Purchase Who Do Ya Love CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Alexis Korner Kornerstoned: Anthology 1958-1983 CD (2004) (Import) United Kingdom
Who Do Ya Love
$24.79 Gravel-voiced Alexis Korner is arguably the most important figure in the history of British blues - the inspiration for several generations of star musicians, from The Rolling Stones to Led Zeppelin & beyond. This first-ever full-career retrospective spans everything from mid-50s skiffle to his final blues outings, via groundbreaking 60s R&B & his pop hits with CCs in the 70s. Two CD set. Castle. 2005.
While MUSICALLY RICH...AND FAMOUS documents the second half of British blues godfather Alexis Korner's career, KORNERSTONED adopts a more comprehensive approach, following the pioneering singer/guitarist from the very beginning of his musical life, all the way through every subsequent phase of his development. So we get not only his mid-1960s work with burgeoning blues-rock giants like Paul Rodgers and Steve Marriott, but also his `50s skiffle recordings (basically the British version of jug-band music) with the Ken Colyer band and his ...

Who Do Ya Love
$13.59 2009 digitally remastered two-fer from this Atlanta-based '70s outfit containing a pair of their albums on one CD (1976's Moonlight Feels Right and '77's Rock 'N' Roll Rocket) alongside a few rare bonus tracks added for good measure. This two-fer from Cherry Red features a pair of LPs by Starbuck: MOONLIGHT FEELS RIGHT and ROCK 'N' ROLL ROCKET, both originally issued on Private Stock in 1976 and 1977. Who Do Ya Love

Initially cutting his performing chops in a series of punk bands, James Yorkston was propelled into the U.K. folk limelight after securing an opening slot supporting John Martyn. His third album, YEAR OF THE LEOPARD, finds Yorkston in full creative bloom--from traditional acoustic folk to more experimental spoken word pieces, its spare beauty is lent a cohesiveness from Paul Webb's delicate production and sparse arrangements. Yorkston's wispy intonation brims with an understated yet affecting charm. Happily flouting easy tags like "new folk" or "singer-songwriter," THE YEAR OF THE LEOPARD is a highly original work ...
