Personnel: Joe Chambers (piano, synthesizer, vibraphone, marimba, drums); Nicole Guilland (vocals); Logan Richardson (saxophone); Misha Tsiganov (piano, keyboards); Dwayne Burno (bass instrument); Bobby Sanabria (percussion). Liner Note Author: Ted Panken. Recording information: Powerhouse Studios, New York, NY (08/2005-09/2005). Joe Chambers has been known throughout his career mainly as a creative drummer although he has also recorded on piano and keyboards. For The Outlaw, he prefers to be known as a vibraphonist. Chambers proves to be excellent on the vibes without neglecting his other axes. On "Poinciana" he plays all of the instruments and on "Bembe" is only joined by percussionist Bobby Sanabria. Other selections utilize a quintet with the fine if currently obscure saxophonist Logan Richardson. Nicole Guiland takes effective vocals on "Come Back to Me" and "I Think It's Time to Say Goodbye." The music covers a wide range of styles, from hard bop and post-bop explorations to mood pieces, borderline fusion, and Latin jazz. This intriguing and constantly surprising set grows in interest with each listen. ~ Scott Yanow Outlaw Music | List Price | $16.98 (You save $3.13) | | Category | Rock/Pop Albums, Jazz CDs, Jazz Instrument, Drums, Enhanced CD | | Label | Savant Records (Jazz) | | Orig Year | 2006 | | All Time Sales Rank | 191194 | | CD Universe Part number | 7019441 | | Catalog number | 2069 | | Discs | 1 | | Release Date | Feb 21, 2006 | | Studio/Live | Studio | | Mono/Stereo | Stereo | | Producer | Joe Chambers | | Personnel | Joe Chambers - piano, synthesizer, vibraphone, marimba, drums Dwayne Burno - bass instrument Bobby Sanabria - percussion Logan Richardson - saxophone Misha Tsiganov - piano, keyboards Nicole Guilland - vocals

$14.15 Harmony RitesEchoes of the 3rd Rite of Passage of the Q’eroExplore the Mysteries of the Healing Traditions of the Modern Inca of Peru !“….Memo’s Native American flute interprets South American energy medicine in a way that makes shamanism approachable.”These songs are based on the seven archetypes that are 'installed' in the chakras (sometimes called energy or soul centers) of recipients of the 'Harmony Rites' (the third of nine rites of passage of the modern Inca, referred to as the Munay-Ki):Track 1 – The Way of the Serpent. The serpent teaches us how to shed our stories the way she sheds her skin—all at once!Track 2 – The Rainbow Jaguar The magnificent tracker that teaches the ways of integrity and impeccabilityTrack 3 – The Royal Hummingbird The mystery of stillness in motion and finding the sweetest nectar.Track 4 – Great Eagle/Condor Showing us heights we have only dared to dream of.Track 5 – Huaskar, Lord of the Lower World Mysteries of the deep subconsciousTrack 6 – Quetzalcoatl, Lord of the Middle World The beauty unpredictability of the lives we liveTrack 7 – Pachacutti, Lord of the World to Come The promise held by the super conscious“Somehow this music has healing qualities. Every listen is like the first, giving new insights and surprises.”About MemoMemo (the Spanish word for “Bill”) is a healer/artist and shamanic practitioner in the Inca tradition. “The flute first appeared to me in a shamanic journey called a ‘soul retrieval.’” He incorporated the Native American flute in the practices of opening sacred spaces and divination, and soon began recording music inspired by the powerful healing ways of the Q’ero, the last descendants of the Inca of the high Andes.Harmony Rights is part of an innovative series of recordings that make shamanic journeying approachable. Inspired by the music of R. Carlos Nakai, Mary Youngblood, Scott August and Stephen DeRuby, Memo takes the Native American Flute on a quest for light and love.Who are the Q’ero? When Pizzaro arrived in the first half of the 16th Century in Peru, the lives of the Inca, 'the people of energy' were forever changed. Conquest, disease and civil war spared a few to flee to cities in the high Andes like Machu Picchu, where it has been said that 'no Spaniard in his right mind would follow.' For 500 years they were to live in isolation and await for the time when the world would need them again. The Q'ero are the last direct descendants of those Inca. They call themselves the Children of Inti (the Sun). These mountain Shamans of different levels (Altumisayuq, Pampamisayuq) still have a high ...
