This 2006 sophomore album by emo band Hawthone Heights makes good on the promise of their highly successful debut by showing the band pushing at their limits to write better songs and broaden their stylistic palette. Yet the hardcore-influenced aggression is still here, as is the emotional angst, ensuring that the band won't lose any of their core following. On top of all this, the band has a way with a hummable tune, spinning punk-pop one minute and melancholic drama the next.Rolling Stone (p.92) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "Hawthorne Heights up the drama-punk ante, channeling tricky rhythms, shimmery soft parts and a metal-schooled three-ax attack into songs that are both action-packed and gratuitously stylized." Entertainment Weekly (p.99) - "JT Woodruff's hypersensitive crooning is swoonworthy..." -- Grade: B- If Only You Were Lonely Music | List Price | $15.98 (You save $4.39) | | Category | Rock/Pop Albums, Rock CDs, Punk, Alternative | | Label | Victory | | Orig Year | 2006 | | All Time Sales Rank | 41609 | | CD Universe Part number | 7019529 | | Catalog number | 266 | | Discs | 1 | | Release Date | Feb 28, 2006 | | Studio/Live | Studio | | Mono/Stereo | Stereo | | Producer | David Bendeth | | Engineer | David Bendeth; Dan Korneff | | Additional Info | Alternate Cover |
Hawthorne Heights If Only You Were Lonely Songs If Only You Were Lonely Music If Only You Were Lonely Music Review Average Rating: (4.1 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Great Album. Horrible LIVE band! If you like any artist signed with Victory records (Atreyu, Bayside, Silverstein...) you can watch Hawthorne heights on DVD featurettes & they can't carry a tune in a 5 gallon bucket. The only vocalist that can hold it together is the growler. Submitted by jesterstylee28 (Port Jervis, NY) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Not Emo!! I liked Hawhtorne Heights first album. But this one took me by suprise. "Pens and Needles" and "saying Sorry" are the best songs on this cd. I like this sound better than the last cd. Not as dark and definitly not emo. go buy it, best yet! Submitted by punkrockersrule (Saco, ME) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Love It!! I really love this CD. Despite what some other pople say, Hawthorne Heights is a wonderful band and I love their lyrics. Some of the songs even apply to my life. This is my favorite band at the moment and I don't see any other band taking that place anywhere in the future. I love this band and this CD. I hope they make awesome albums like this in the future. I just can't stop listening to it. I'm listening to it now!! Submitted by Beatriz Andrade (Pasadena, Texas, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

If Only You Were Lonely music CDs
$11.05 Knowing that COMMIT THIS TO MEMORY was produced by Blink 182's Mark Hoppus, some listeners might assume that Motion City Soundtrack numbers among the scores of Blink clones who emerged in the wake of Hoppus and crew's massive 1990s success. MSC, however, places far more emphasis on the pop half of the pop-punk equation than their Orange County counterparts. Often ...

| | John Abercrombie Night CD (1984)
If Only You Were Lonely CD music
$13.19 This surprising 1984 effort from John Abercrombie finds the guitarist in conversation with Jan Hammer, Jack DeJohnette, and Mike Brecker. The lack of a bassist on this session is not felt; the spaciousness of the music and the masterful playing of all parties involved keep the focus clearly on the melodies, both scripted and improvised. This can best be heard on the title track, a lovely, tear-wrenching ballad. On some of the more up-tempo tracks, Hammer covers the bass end with his keyboards almost like he is taking part in an organ trio. Unlike the high-velocity fusion that Hammer is best known for in his work with the Mahavishnu Orchestra, Al DiMeola, and elsewhere, his work on Night is highly subdued. In fact, his playing is one of the most pleasant things about this ...
| | Lorrie Morgan Show Me How CD (2004)
If Only You Were Lonely music CDs
$13.45 It would be unkind to point out that Lorrie Morgan looks a little the worse for wear on the cover of Show Me How -- if she didn't do a song on that very subject on the album ("Now my idea of letting it all hang out/Sure has changed with time/And that's hard on a bombshell"), and if she didn't have a perfect right. So it's doubly a pleasure to find that Morgan sounds, at an age that usually takes its toll on the tight throats of female country vocalists, better than ever. Check out the perfectly controlled descent into baritone territory in "I Can Count on You," one of four songs here in which songwriter Angela Kaset, the creator of Morgan's mega-hit "Something in Red," had a hand. In other ways, too, Show Me How feels like a reunion of the forces who created Morgan's long string of smart country-pop hits in the 1990s. Morgan rejoins with producer Richard Landis, who once again mixes classic keyboard-based ...
