This 2006 sophomore album by emo band Hawthone Heights makes good on the promise of their highly successful debut by showing the band pushing at their limits to write better songs and broaden their stylistic palette. Yet the hardcore-influenced aggression is still here, as is the emotional angst, ensuring that the band won't lose any of their core following. On top of all this, the band has a way with a hummable tune, spinning punk-pop one minute and melancholic drama the next.

More melodic than the Silence in Black and White. Music complexity not as great though.
Great music, these guys are awesome and one of a kind. Great vocals, great music, CD is put together better than the last, although I still like the first better still

I dubbed thee: Silverstein, Matchbook Romance, Motion City Soundtrack, Avenged Sevenfold, there's just so many I can mention, but you get the picture. This is so interesting after hearing four and half tracks in! Major labels, are you taking any note, any note at all? This has me noticed!

Completely Awesome!!
Defintely a must get..I am more of a Hatebreed, Throwndown, Terror, Killswitch Engage, simply put, a hardcore listener, but this CD completely is great from song 1 to 11.. I am not a big fan of track 12, but hey, the rest of this CD is undeniable..Run out and get it!!

This album is actually a re-release of a recording by trombonist Generoso "El Tojo" Jiménez and his orchestra in Havana's famous EGREM Studios in late 1965. By that time, Cuba had already weathered the revolution, the missile crisis, and sweeping reforms throughout the music industry, yet El Trombón Majadero draws heavily on the whimsical and glamorous style of the great orchestras of pre-Revolutionary Cuba. The album titles translates loosely to "the naughty trombone," so it's not surprising that the album focuses as much on lighthearted arrangements and compositions as it does on Jiménez's mastery of his instrument. Examples of this flamboyant approach are songs like the farcical "Llegaron del Otro Mundo" ("They Came From Another World") and "Descarga Solfeando" (Solfage Jam), where the only words are the "do, re, mi..." musical scale. But the music is at the heart of this album's quality, and a truly simplified Cuban big band album like this has been noticeably lacking in the more recent resurgence of Cuban music.
