| A terrifying chilling beginning of a movie. When a Stranger Calls video This 1979 thriller horror classic is defiantly one of the most chilling hairs standing up on the back of your neck movies to date! If the first 20-30 minute doesn’t have you under the blanket screaming then you are defiantly NOT ordinary. The re-make wasn’t bad, but not even close to this original classic! Why cable and TV don’t air this I have no clue as to why? Carol Kane is terrific as the terrified teen alone as the babysitter. This movie is also extremely atmospheric with the mood it presents with dark corners of the house and the ticking of the clock This is a must see for all! Especially in the month of October. Watch if you dare??? By farout6 (Des Plaines, IL.) |
| Really, it scared the pants practically off of me Yes, this is a great movie. Of course, I saw the commercial for this movie when it first came out, back in about 1980. Of course I just had to be babysitting that particular weekend night too! This was not planned I tell you and it scared me to death that night and also after I actually saw the movie. You do not want to see this commercial as a young girl alone with two little kids at night! They just don't make horror movies like this any longer. By Sher (Mpls., MN) |
| scary this movie had some of the most frightening and suspensful scenes i have ever scene. The problem with the film is that we get to know the villian a little too well and i actually felt sorry for this character, he was a man who was most likely abused as a child and had no sense of how to fit in with the rest of society. a good movie but not great. | The scariest movie I've ever seen I love to be scared, and this movie did it. The irony of his being upstairs at the start of the movie and returning to say the same phrase to the babysitter after his imprisonment, "have you checked the children?",will scare even the die hard scary-flick fan. | Another fantastic Horror Flick This movie starts out about a babysitter who gets threatning phone calls, when she soon discovers that the prank phone caller is calling from upstairs. Though the beginning is the best by far (and of course the end) the middle may drag, which is the only reason this didnt get a 5. A must see to all you horror freaks!!!
