Don't let the misguided low rating of the previous reviewer deter you from purchasing this CD. "Black Byrd" is a wonderful example of best 70's "Funk Fusion" jazz! (Although, most of the tracks are pretty mellow) Some consider Larry & Fonce Mizell's influence on the jazz genre as "selling out", but it opened the music to MANY then and now...and, at the time, it re-introduced the legendary artist, Donald Byrd to those who may have missed his contributions to jazz in the 50's & 60's. Enjoy!
