| | Oscar Peterson At London House Comp Master Take CD - Import Oscar Peterson Discography of CDs
The incomparable Oscar Peterson Trio recorded almost ten-hours of music at Chicago's celebrated London House between July 11 and August 6, 1961. This outstanding three-CD set contains all of the master takes - 25 tracks and nearly three-hours of music - recorded by the trio at the London House during these dates. Although Verve edited a 5-CD box set with all of Peterson's London House recordings, it is no longer available on the market and can only be found at auctions. The trio's London House repertory is vast and showcases the group's extraordinary versatility, performing songs ranging from the traditional Billy Boy, to classic standards and show tunes like 'Chicago', 'I've Never Been In Love Before', 'I Love You', 'Yesterdays' and 'In The Wee Small Hours', to the bebop sounds of 'Woody 'N' You', and 'Tricrotism'. At London House Comp Master Take
$40.49 Definitive's 2006 release of an 88-track compendium of Duke Ellington's Capitol recordings dating from the years 1953-1955 illuminates a period during which the man who more than anyone else had perfected the art of big-band jazz during the 1920s, '30s, and '40s had to scuffle to maintain his jazz orchestra at a time when small combos and star vocalists were getting most of the gigs and recording contracts. It is therefore fitting, perhaps, that Ellington chose to record with a trio in between big-band sessions during December 1953, resulting in an album's worth of wonderful chamber jazz that appeared on the ...

| | Fatal Flying Guilloteens Quantum Fucking CD (2007)
At London House Comp Master Take
$5.95 Personnel: Shawn Adolph (vocals, guitar); Henry H Owings (vocals); John Adams (guitar, drums); Roy Mata (bass guitar). Recording information: Dead City Sound, HTX; Sweatbox Studios, ATX. In the glory days of early-'90s noise rock, there was a whole army of bands like Houston's Fatal Flying Guilloteens. For whatever reason, very few acts were producing such a sound a mere decade later, which only puts QUANTUM F*CKING's power in stark relief. Armed with bulldozer blues-punk riffs and threatening rhythms, the Guilloteens remind the listener of no less than former standard-bearers the Jesus Lizard and Tar, and at times even the godfathers of the whole shebang, Nick Cave's anarchic Birthday Party. The teetering sway of the guitars and the gut punch of the bass are offset here by a steady, disciplined drum attack; ragers like the opener, "Hello, Boss!!!," and "Illegal Weapons Party" team up with moodier slow burns like "Reveal the Rats" and "Legion of Serpents" to create a varied but devastating attack. Is it possible for a band to get crazier and ...
