The world music label presents a variety of popular Turkish songs set to Western dance grooves; the result is rather in the vein of the late Israeli singer Ofra Haza's similar dance experiments. Emrah's insistent, acoustic "Kusursuszun," simultaneously foreign-sounding yet familiar, is a particular highlight, while Mustafa Sandal's "Kalmadi" has subtle Latin overtones.

Turkish Groove review by a grateful Cuban I recently made a trip down to TN from KY. I found an offbeat store which carries only Putumayo CDs. The Turkish Groove music was playing overhead and I was immediately captivated by the engrossing beats. I purchased the CD and cannot stop listening to it. I do not understand one word of what is being sung, but am nonetheless enthralled by the music. This is one CD which is a MUST HAVE. Enjoy!
