| | Darkane Rusted Angel CD - Import Darkane Discography of CDs
The first album by Swedish thrash/death metal combo Darkane shows the band still working out the specifics of their potent sound. The hyperfast tempos and straightforward, ripping guitars have more in common with American thrash, but the slightest hint of extreme Scandinavian death creeps in to push them into new territory. Singer Lawrence Mackory, who left the band after RUSTED ANGEL, has a voice that can sing a deep tombstone growl or a less imposing roar, and the guitars will occasionally break into brief power-metal style soloing. Despite the quest for identity, this remains a confident and powerful debut.
Recorded at Dugout Productions, Uppsala, Sweden in 1998.
Darkane: Lawrence Mackrory (vocals); Klaus Ideberg, Christofer Malmström (guitars); Jörgen Löfberg (bass guitar); Peter Wildoer (drums).

Purchase Rusted Angel CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Hypocrisy CD (1999)
Rusted Angel album
$9.89 Back from the bowels of metal limbo comes the mighty Hypocrisy with their self-titled masterpiece. The Final Chapter was supposed to bid the metal community adieu, but it seems that the tremendous impact of that album has brought Peter Tagtgren and company out for another go. Crafting and delivering a slew of brand new, megalithic guitar and bass riffs, Hypocrisy has created a release that is "100 percent pure organic metal" (to quote the scholarly Mr. Schuldiner). From the opener, "Fractured Millennium," to the galloping Iron Maidenish "Fusion Programmed Minds," one sees them as a changed band. Focusing primarily on writing ...
| | W A S P Dying For The World CD (2002)
Rusted Angel CD music
$9.99 In the liner notes that Blackie Lawless wrote for Dying for the World, W.A.S.P.'s founder/lead singer angrily declares, "F*ck political correctness; that went down with the World Trade Center." Of course, being politically correct is something that Lawless has never been accused of. Back in the '80s, his over-the-top antics offended people of all political persuasions. Lawless always loved to be shocking -- Alice Cooper and Ozzy Osbourne taught him well -- but on Dying for the World, the veteran headbanger never gets into shock value for the sake of shock value. This 2002 release has a consistently serious tone, and that seriousness was, to a large degree, inspired by the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Lawless' liner notes assert that when the World Trade Center became a mass grave, he was determined to record an album that expressed his anger -- and Dying for the World is definitely angry. However, Lawless' ...

| | Amon Amarth The Crusher CDs (2001)
Rusted Angel CD music
$13.09 After nearly a decade of recording and a few lineup overhauls, each contributor to Amon Amarth's previous effort, Avenger, stuck around for The Crusher. Original members Johan Hegg (vocals) and Olavi Mikkonen (guitars) are again joined by Fredrik Andersson on drums, Johan Söderberg on guitar, and bassist Ted Lundström. There is nothing new on this outing to surprise fans of this band's familiar Scandinavian death metal. The riffing from guitar and drums is workmanlike, and Hegg's vocal rants carry all the requisite ferocity. During slower, more musically focused numbers like "As Long as the Raven Flies" and the opener, "Bastards of a Lying Breed," certain attributes of '80s thrash and song-driven metal create spaces that enhance the rest of this album's dense material. The Crusher blends seamlessly with the rest of Amon Amarth's Metal Blade catalog. There isn't a standout among these recordings, as their textural differences are negligible. Listeners who enjoy this kind of metal should certainly check out Amon Amarth, and The Crusher would be a good ...

| | Exodus Pleasures Of The Flesh CD (1987) Remastered
Rusted Angel songs
$7.99 Despite their crucial involvement in the development of thrash metal, by 1987 San Francisco's Exodus were playing a desperate game of catch-up. Upstarts Metallica had first stolen their thunder, then their guitarist; and after a yearlong delay that rendered their seminal debut, Bonded by Blood, rather archaic, the group experienced a tumultuous lineup change with the departure of founding vocalist Paul Baloff and the arrival of ex-Testament singer Steve Souza. By and large, the throat-shredding vocal styles of both frontmen were pretty much interchangeable, but the difference in songwriting quality between the aforementioned Bonded by Blood and its dismal successor, Pleasures of the Flesh, was quite astounding. Truth is, except for the rather memorable title track, ...
