| | Jerry Lee Lewis Rocks CD - Import Jerry Lee Lewis Discography of CDs
This CD features 80 minutes of wall-to-wall piano pounding rock 'n' roll, and includes songs from Jerry Lee's Sun and Mercury recordings. It's 21 years in the life of Jerry Lee Lewis - and all the big rock hits you'd expect, like Whole Lotta Shakin', Gre
You can be certain of one thing: that any compilation on the Bear Family label will be solid, not only in terms of tracks but presentation, historical data, and great sound. This comp by the Killer, Jerry Lee Lewis, is no exception. There are 33 cuts here, recorded between 1957 and 1977 and licensed from Sun or Mercury/Smash. Sure, some of his WEA material is missing, but most everything else from the Mercury era, with the possible exception of "What Made Milwaukee Famous," is here: "Breathless," "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On," "Great Balls of Fire," "Real Wild Child (Wild One)" (to hopefully help everyone forget Iggy Pop's utterly horrific version), "Drinkin' Wine Spo-Dee-O-Dee," "Good Rockin' Tonight," "Pink Pedal Pushers," "High School Confidential," and other great country songs -- like his stellar version of Kris Kristofferson's "Me and Bobby McGee." Highly recommended. ~ Thom Jurek

Rocks album
$14.95 THE SCREAMING END is an all but definitive Gene Vincent compilation, cannily programmed with his most real gone (as they used to say) performances. This is rockabilly at its wildest and (paradoxically) most carefully crafted thanks, in no small part, to the Bluecaps. They were arguably the fiercest rock band of their day.
There are two main reasons for the band's precision and power. One is a virtuoso guitarist in the justifiably legendary Cliff Gallup (he ...

| | Erik Lindgren Sells Out CD (2001)
Rocks songs
$13.39 Lindgren's more pop-minded recordings are basically commercial pop with tinges of eclectic idiosyncratic auteurism. The term "commercial" is not just an adjective; he's made part of his living by composing and recording commercial jingles. A few of them are even on this retrospective of sorts of his most vintage accessible work, recorded between 1979 and 1985 with various aggregations of musicians and culled from a wealth of obscure indie singles, LPs, and -- of course -- jingles. It's an unavoidably erratic, sporadically amusing disc that, like a fly trapped in the house, never really finds a comfortable home. It's obvious that he loves the Beach Boys and power pop, often sounding like Beach Boys, Left Banke, or Raspberries songs in need of a better vocalist (Lindgren himself occasionally taking the vocal chores). The commercials sound like, well, commercials, perhaps a little more imaginative and power pop-indebted than the ones you hear on your average talk radio station, but still not things you feel like hearing ...
