Three Little Words Movie Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) Boop-Boop-A-Doop! Even though this account of the lives of Bert Kalmer and Harry Ruby is largely fictional, this does not detract from the thorough enjoyment to be derived by viewing this 1950 MGM musical. Both Fred and Red are in fine form, particularly Red Skeleton. His performance is generally more subdued and measured than his usual frenetic style. This I feel enhances his role and one can only wonder why he didn't make more musicals. The wonderful songs are timeless, the version of "Nevertheless" ranks as one of my all time favourites. Any team who could compose the clever and witty "Hooray For Captain Spalding" would have to be impressive songwriters."Three Little Words" is definitely not 'high' art but it is certainly terrific entertainment, guaranteed to make you feel positive and europhically happy by the time the credits roll. As Helen Kane may well say, this movie is "Boop-Boop-A-Doop!" Submitted by Richard (Victora, Australia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Tree Little Words (My review for this movie) There are magnificient movie about Tin Pan Alley's songwriting teams. Ther are very nice dancing of Fr. Astaire ( may be on of the last one), Red Scelton and Vera Ellen. Under the musical direction of Andre Previn with very nice songs.
Sincerely Yours.

One of Astaire's Best Reportedly, this was Astaire's favourite and I can understand why.
A very affectionate look at two songwriters of yesteryear with Vera-Ellen also in top form. Red Skelton lends great support and it was nice to see Debbie Reynolds miming to Helen Kane's 'I wanna be loved by you, boop-boop-de-doo'.
As far as I know, this has never been released in VHS PAL format so I had to get a NTSC version from the US ... and it was worth every penny (er, sorry, I mean cent).

Bert Kelmar and Jack Ruby. Kelmar and Ruby (ably played by Fred Astaire and Red Skelton)were a song writing team in the early part of the last century. This film contains many of their hits including the title song. The film is also noted for the debut of Debbie Reynolds complete with dubbed voice. Fine support from Vera-Ellen Keenan Wynn and Arlene Dahl. Submitted by a reviewer (Newcastle upon Tyne England) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No This review is for a different format.
Odd pairing makes for splendid entertainment I had seen this movie years ago and had always wanted to purchase it. The pairing of Fred Astaire and Red Skelton would seem ill cast, but it works wonderfully in this very entertaining movie based on the lives of Harry Ruby and Bert Kalmar.
These two tin pan alley stars wrote some of the most memorable songs. And their story makes for one great musical.
I would highly recommend this film to anyone who appreciates musicals and happy endings. Submitted by a reviewer (Montreal, QC, Canada) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No This review is for a different format.

Three Little Words film
$12.85 The feature film debut of Hayao Miyazaki (NAUSICAÄ OF THE VALLEY OF THE WIND, PRINCESS MONONOKE), THE CASTLE OF CAGLIOSTRO depicts one adventure of the master thief Lupin and his rough-around-the-edges gunman, Jigen. Something of a cross between Batman, James Bond, and Cary Grant's character in TO CATCH A THIEF, Lupin is a suave ladies' man who is also given to feats of athletic daring, aided by a gadget filled belt that gets him out of more than a few scrapes. The plot has Lupin and Jigen traveling to the sleepy little country of Cagliostro and coming to the aid of the unwilling fiance of the diabolical Count Cagliostro. After CAGLIOSTRO, Miyazaki stopped creating "slapstick" feature films in favor of more serious fare; CAGLIOSTRO shows, however, that he is quite capable of delivering the goods in this genre. Based on the Lupin comics by the artist Monkey Punch, CAGLIOSTRO is a great heist/chase film that ...

$6.99 Originally released as WHERE'S THE PARTY, YAAR? this comedy spoofs every aspect of the Indian American experience, while maintaining the complexity of its characters, and avoiding stereotypes. Hari Patel has been assured that he will find love in America, so he comes to Houston to study engineering. He lives with his aunt and uncle there, whose son, Mo, is a college student fully assimilated into his American environment. A cool guy on the desi scene, Mo is ordered by his parents to show the ropes to the FOB ("fresh off the boat") newcomer, and he reluctantly does so. Unfortunately, the hipsters aren't so welcoming to Hari, with his odd dance moves and oily hair, and as Hari struggles to adapt to his new home, lessons are learned all around. From Bollywood tunes in the rain, to tricked-out Indian bachelor pads, no area of Indian culture is left out. Through the energy of the cast and the excellent soundtrack--which features the likes of Panjabi MC, Cornershop, and DJ Cheb i Shabbah--this fast-paced, hip satire with a heart is sure to delight.
It's hard to fit in when you're the new guy in town, but when you're fresh off the boat, forget ...
