Paul Sabu was born and raised in Southern California. He didn't pick up the guitar until the age of 15. But by 17 Paul was sneaking in local clubs, bars, anyplace that would let him sit in or plug in. He began the journey to his recording career at 19 and has never stopped. SABU and ONLY CHILD were two of the late 80's and 90's musical vehicles for Paul, who was dubbed "L.A. session king and AOR hero". SABU was the darling of several melodic rock magazines which described his albums as big sounding, with lots of depth, fat keyboards, blistering guitars and vocals combined with a great chorus. SABU's much sought-after albums still hold his reputation true as Album-Oriented Rock King. In the November 14, 2005 Kerrang Poll ...Paul Sabu holds 2 of the greatest AOR Albums of all time. Paul Sabu has produced, mixed, written songs and performed with such artists as Alice Cooper, David Bowie, Little Caesar, Lee Aaron, Shania Twain, Motels, Only Child, SABU, John Waite, Robbie Neville, Malice, Wasp, Little America, The Nelsons, Tattoo Rodeo, Silent Rage, Elvira, Teri Tims and Madonna. His film and TV credits include "Accused", "Ghoulies II", "Trick or Treat", "Ghost Town", "To Die For", "Twin Sitters", "Hard Rock Zombies", "American Drive-In", "Million Dollar Mystery", "Vice Versa", The Heights, all rock songs for "WKRP in Cincinnati", "Sex and the City", "Beverly Hills, 90210", "Baywatch", "Diving In", Meatballs 4", "Assault of the Killer Bimbos", and the list goes on. I've worked with a plethora of engineers that always said they were the "best", but I was never happy with the way my records sounded. Heartbreak was the first album I produced and engineered myself. On his second Adventure Music release, Sete Capelas (Seven Chapels) -- and follow-up to 2004's critically acclaimed Cris on the Farm -- Rio based guitar master Marcos Amorim gleefully explores the subtleties and intricacies of numerous jazz-based idioms, from maracatu to jazz, samba and even funk. The opening track, "Coisas Demais por Fazer (Many Things to Do)," shows the lighter, bright samba side of his personality as he ensembles beautifully with guest flutist Nivaldo Ornelas. The wind is so prominent on this track that it's possible for uninitiated listeners to think it's a Brazilian flute project -- but from the second track, the hypnotic, polyrhythmic, and sweetly soundscaped "Sonhos Indianos (Indian Dreams)," Amorim perfectly defines his deft acoustic guitar style. The journey of the "seven chapels" of the album title is one of numerous moodswings, as he shifts into a melancholy, reflective state on "Bolero por Jaco" (with the help of Ney Conçeicao's seductive bassline) and "Rio Tranquilo," before swinging back to the optimistic, gently toe-tapping "Pedra da Sorte." I first became interested in music at a very early age (one year old) as I rode around on my mother's vacuum cleaner humming in minor keys. In later years I sang in the Grade Chorus and eventually picked up the trumpet which I played for six years in the School Band. After graduating from High School I dropped the trumpet and picked up a guitar. That first axe was a $5.00 instrument. Since then (1964) I have had numerous guitars. My present guitars are Martins ( a 000-18 & a D-28). I have been composing music and writing lyrics since 1964 and have a repertoire of about 40 songs on the acoustic guitars.
