Space Age Playboys was intended open a new chapter for Warrior Soul. Following their disastrous parting with Geffen Records, the embattled hard rockers underwent several personnel changes in an attempt to put their troubles behind them once and for all, including the addition of two new guitarists to replace the departed John Ricco. Always one to have his finger on the pulse of new trends, temperamental frontman Kory Clarke announced that the new-and-improved lineup's first offering, 1995's Space Age Playboys, would travel uncharted creative waters, anticipating the cyber-punk movement. But correct as he was about that (well, the punk part anyway), Clarke and company once again managed to somehow miss their own boat and the album barely made a dent in the pop conscience. New label Futurist's poor distribution probably contributed to this predicament (while Geffen employees no doubt laughed themselves senseless), because energetic new material like "The Drug," "Let's Get Wasted," and "Rotten Soul" ranked with the band's best work, falling just short of their landmark debut of five years before. All to no avail, unfortunately, and after briefly adopting the album's title as their new name, the band would finally go their separate ways. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia Warrior Soul Space Age Playboys Songs | 1. | Rocket Engines | |

Space Age Playboys
$12.39 In retrospect, one has to wonder whether Warrior Soul missed the bull's-eye of rock immortality by a hair. Listening to their impressive 1990 debut Last Decade, Dead Century, one can't help but notice some striking parallels between its anti-establishment message and the one championed by Nirvana's Nevermind the very next year. Rebellious ...

| | Warrior Soul Chill Pill CD (1993) Bonus Tracks; Reissue
Space Age Playboys
$11.65 Warrior Soul's fourth album Chill Pill had a few good moments, like the single "Shock Um Down," but it's too similar to their first three albums to make much an impact to anyone outside of dedicated hair-metal fans. Nevetheless, the best moments -- like the group's technically ambitious guitar leads and topical lyrics -- confirm that Warrior Soul is an individual band within their genre. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
Never one to mince words, Warrior Soul frontman Kory Clarke made no bones about the fact that the band's fourth album Chill Pill was an intentionally lackluster album, put together for the sole purpose of terminating their relationship with the DGC label. You can't argue with honesty and truth to word, Clarke's songwriting barely registers a pulse throughout the album. Its entire ...

| | Richard Smallwood Persuaded: Live In D.C. CD (2001)
Space Age Playboys
$9.09 Recorded live at Jericho City Of Praise, Washington, D.C. on April 21, 2001.
PERSUADED was nominated for the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Traditional Soul Gospel Album.
This live album by popular worship leader Richard Smallwood and his Vision choir starts out in a rather unexpected way. The full horn and string sections on hand are employed in an instrumental prelude that's more suggestive of European classical music than of down-home gospel. When Vision enters on "Anthem of Praise," their choral vocals sound more like ...
| | Iron Maiden Real Live One CD (1993)
Space Age Playboys
$18.05 "Fear Of The Dark" was nominated for the 1994 Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance With Vocal.
A REAL LIVE ONE was released a few months after it's counterpart, A REAL DEAD ONE. While the former contains long-forgotten early favorites, the latter is made up of later hits. While the band doesn't sound as electrified as it does on its 1985 live set, LIVE AFTER DEATH, longtime fans will get a kick out of hearing such early nuggets as "Prowler," "Transylvania," "Remember Tomorrow," "Where Eagles Dare," "Sanctuary," "Iron Maiden," and "Hallowed Be Thy Name." The band also manages to pepper the set with a handful of more renowned tracks, such as "The Number of the Beast," "The Trooper," "Running Free," "Run to the Hills," and "2 Minutes to Midnight."
Though Live After Death remains the strongest documentation of Iron Maiden on-stage, A Real Live One isn't a bad listen at all. Maiden was a band that always believed in giving its audience a monster of a show, and on the whole, the CD (recorded everywhere from France and Italy to Denmark and Finland) does a good job capturing the ...
