Charlize Theron stars as a ruthlessly efficient 25th-century assassin fighting to free her people from totalitarian rule in Earth's last living city. Karyn Kusama, the writer-director of GIRLFIGHT, the story of a tough female boxer, turns her attentions to a tough female superhero in AEON FLUX. Based on a series of animated shorts that aired on MTV, the live-action feature film version stars Charlize Theron, in jet black hair, as the secret agent of the title. Aeon Flux is a Monican who has been ordered to assassinate Trevor Goodchild (Martin Csokas), the leader of Bregna--a futuristic walled city that is the last vestige of humanity on 25th-century earth. But a long-buried memory prevents her from killing him, ultimately making both of them targets. As Trevor battles his brother, Oren (Jonny Lee Miller), for control of Bregna, Aeon seeks revenge for the murder of her sister (Amelia Warner) while also being hunted down by her former partner, Sithandra (Sophie Okonedo). At the center of it all is a secret that threatens to tear everything apart.
Theron, who performed most of her own stunts, glides through the film in barely-there outfits, while also jumping, running, slinking, diving, and cartwheeling her way through dangerous situations, recalling the gorgeous movements made by the animated version. The film alternates between stark gray-and-white sets and brilliant splashes of red, green, and yellow, adding a vibrancy that befits a cartoon adaptation. The taut script, by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi (who previously teamed up on CRAZY/BEAUTIFUL), delves deep into the relationships of siblings that often border between love and hate. Graeme Revell's smart score never overwhelms the action, which involves a lot of automatic weapons, and Oscar winner Frances McDormand and Oscar nominee Pete Postlethwaite feature in small roles. I'm sorry if this review I'm about to give hurts anyones feelings, but I have to do it. First off, the movie wasn't that coherent. It dragged. It didn't explain where she came from or how she was trained. Not only did the stuff in the movie was unbelievable but it was just silly. I bought this movie without seeing it along with Bloodrayne. I was sorely disappointed. They should have made this totally CGI. It would have been cooler.

 Suprising!
Got slammed by the critics and didn't do that good in the box office, yet being a sci fi buff I still got htis movie wondering why the heck would an multiple oscar winning actress would be part of it....
It is surprisingly good, thoughtful and entertaining.
It is fresh and different in a good way, which is why I think it didn't do too well, too smart for your average popcorn fan!
Great movie, good acting, good story and great effects!
If you like sci fi and with a good story line buy this movie!

 Really didn't think I'd like this one but.....
Really didn't think I'd like this movie, then hubby bought it and we were all completely engrossed in it from start to finish. Charlize Theron did a wonderful job, the plot was very deep and I didn't guess the ending of it at all. I'm a total movie buff so I guess the endings from any movies that are typical, but this one was truly above average. BUY IT, YOU'LL LOVE IT AND LOOK FORWARD TO (HOPEFULLY) A SEQUAL LIKE WE ARE!

This movie is like a lot of movies that are adapted from cult classics and comic books mostly fanboy fodder. that being said I liked this movie I first thought I might watch it to get a better handle on the classic story but that turned out not to be the case why some elements are the same it is basicaly a stand alone movie. I thought this was better than catwoman and electra, hard to beat tombraider though due to the Jolie element.
