| | Tony Bennett Have I Told You Lately CD Tony Bennett Discography of CDs
This brief overview of one of the most enduring American singers features 10 of Tony Bennett's most romantic songs, including the sophisticated after-hours jazz of "I Got Lost in Her Arms," the mid-life anthem "This Is All I Ask," and the evergreen "These Foolish Things." While Bennett played second fiddle to the more technically accomplished and charismatic Frank Sinatra for most of his career, the essential honesty and earthiness of his voice has served him well, and it's this flawed humanity that makes these selections so compelling. Have I Told You Lately album
$15.95 CARNEGIE HALL recreates the original 1962 performance by adding 18 unreleased songs to the existing 26-song double album.
This is part of Columbia Records' Tony Bennett Masters Series.
This is the complete version of the triumphant 1962 Carnegie Hall concert, recorded on the heels of Tony Bennett's giant hit "I Left My Heart In San Francisco," and previously released as an abridged 2-LP set. Since this is Tony Bennett in his prime, backed by the superb Ralph Sharon Orchestra and featuring contributions from such superior musicians as jazz tenor Al Cohn, vibraphonist Eddie Costa and guitarist Kenny Burrell, the extra 18 tracks can only be a welcome addition to his catalogue.

| | Paul Taylor Hypnotic CD (2001)
Have I Told You Lately CD music
$8.49 On his fourth album, Paul Taylor calls upon five different producers: Dino Esposito, Kurt Jackson, Mathew Edralin, Jeff Lorber, and Oji Pierce. The function of these musicians for the most part is to create largely synthesized backgrounds for the soprano saxophonist to solo over in his familiar, melodic manner. Esposito handles the title song and "Flight 808," the first two tracks; Jackson does "PT Cruiser" (with Edralin) and "Sunshine" (on which he sings some bland romantic lyrics); Lorber is responsible for "Tuesday Afternoon," "Pendulum," "Come Over," "Free Fall," and "Palisades"; and Pierce is behind the board for "Dream State" and "Summer Park." Real guitars and percussion are included in the mix here and there, but the sound of the background music remains relatively anonymous, its purpose to provide a rhythmic underpinning and a little color. What matters is the saxophone, or rather the sax harmonies and sax arrangements for which Taylor credits himself on each track, which means that he frequently overdubs saxophone parts to create unison effects. His style is virtually indistinguishable from that of Kenny G, George Howard, or other less-well-known soprano sax practitioners, and the compositions, which usually fade out after four-plus minutes without reaching ...

| | George Strait It Just Comes Natural CD (2006)
Have I Told You Lately songs
$10.79 Such a perfect title for a George Strait album it's a wonder it hasn't been used before, IT JUST COMES NATURAL showcases one of the all-time great Nashville country singers in his natural habitat. Surrounded by fiddles, steel guitars, mandolins, and other signifiers of the new traditionalist country sound that he remains loyal to more than a quarter-century into his career, Strait delivers 15 wry breakup songs (first single, "Give it Away"), heartbroken ballads ("I Ain't Her Cowboy Anymore"), and audience-pleasing sing-alongs ("How 'Bout Them Cowgirls"). Strait even finds room to resurrect a minor classic of the Texas alt-country scene of the 1970s, Guy Clark's "Texas Cooking," a should-be standard of which Strait gives a respectful, cozy reading. Still one of the finest country singers of his own or any generation, Strait is in excellent voice throughout.

| | Rod Stewart Still The Same... Great Rock Classics Of Our Time CD (2006)
Have I Told You Lately album
$8.99 There's one great, straightfaced joke on Rod Stewart's return to classic rock following his trio of standards: ever since it was a hit in 1978, casual AM radio listeners have mistaken Bonnie Tyler's "It's A Heartache" for a Rod Stewart single, given how much the scratchy-voiced Welsh singer sounded like 1970s-vintage Rod the Mod. On STILL THE SAME: GREAT ROCK CLASSICS OF OUR TIME, Stewart does a dead-on impersonation of Tyler's impersonation of himself; it's a great giggle and a good version of a good song. The rest of the set is perhaps less inspired, but equally fine: in arrangements that recall the no-frills, pubby rock-and-roll of his best solo albums, Stewart performs tunes familiar to any fans of '70s and '80s pop, from Badfinger's "Day After Day" ...
