BY A THREAD is Gov't Mule's first studio album since HIGH & MIGHTY was issued in 2006. Since that time, bassist Andy Hess has been replaced by Jorgen Carlsson, though Hess appears on two tracks at the end of the album. Carlsson's playing style is much more aggressive than Hess', and is therefore closer - in spirit anyway - to Gov't Mule's original bassist, the late Allen Woody, though he possesses an adventurous sense of time and is harmonically more colorful than either Woody or Hess. Carlsson and drummer Matt Abst are a solid match, since Abst is a drummer used to shifting time signatures and allowing the unexpected in while still driving a band. The band's keyboardist and rhythm guitarist, Danny Louis, is a shape-shifter, playing to whatever is needed in a given track. His manner of coloring sounds inside and around a particular tune's framework is a large part of what makes Gov't Mule's sound so fresh here - despite the fact that they don't stray far from what they do best. Warren Haynes and his guitar are, as usual, front and center, his guitar screaming, his big throaty growl hammering down lyrics like a Southern fire-and-brimstone preacher with earthshaking soul. The material on this set is tight; there is less jamming but Gordie Johnson's production and mixing equalize everything at ten, making it feel like the disc is recorded live.

Gravity music is an intense journey into the emotions that humanity experiences. Within it lurks love, hate, alienation, sexuality, frustration, loneliness, and desire, just to name a few, that are expressed both musically and lyrically. Gravity believes that music and melody needs to convey the message as much as the singing and lyrics do, and they often combine to pack a one two punch. Gravity is a "Listening Experience" more than it is anything else.Gravity is a male/female duo with no confining genre. While the music is dark and can be loosely put into the Goth Rock category, it often strays from that. Gravity origins began as the brainchild of Norman (Figueroa) Dehm. First known as A Candlelight Ghost, the act went on the road in the early nineties playing to Goth/Alternative audiences. Later, going solo with the project, and renaming it Gravity, lead to many years of isolated experimentation and refinement of a sound unlike any other. Recently brought aboard was the vocal and musical talent of Sarah Choszczyk, taking the music in a new direction while maintaining its roots, and adding power to the vocals. And what are those roots you ask? It’s broad and eclectic. Early influences come from Pink Floyd, Scorpions, The Cure, Fields of the Nephilim, the New Wave/80's era, and Beethoven. Later influences include the likes of Tool, Hooverphonic, Portishead, Static X, trance/techno, Nine Inch Nails, Dead Can Dance, and cinematic styles of music such as Danny Elfman. Does Gravity sound like any of those artists? Not really! People often ask what Gravity sounds like and a good answer doesn't exist. It's very hard to compare but it is most of the time dark, rhythmic, powerful, and emotionally packed. Gravity's main musical philosophy is originality. The Bobby Cadmus Band actually began not as a band but as a solo artist. Back in the late ‘90s Bobby was frustrated that his performing career had never really taken off as he expected, and felt he could have better success by doing a solo acoustic act. It was at this time, still without a band, that he released the LP “Love Never Dies” in 2001. This was an extension of his live act showcasing more of his songwriting skills than anything else, but in a band format where he played nearly all the instruments. Several months later with the help of bassist and friend Joe Russo, “The Bobby Cadmus Band” was born. This power trio of both acoustic and electric based music began playing bigger stages in Philadelphia and its surrounding suburbs. After several years of playing a variety of venues, “The Bobby Cadmus Band” released the EP “Come Dance With Me” in 2005. This was an acoustic album showcasing them as skilled performers of progressive blues and hinted that there was more to the Bobby Cadmus Band then just a singer-songwriter act that the first album demonstrated.
