| Shows the power of talent. No Jacket Required songs It is interesting that this album was Phil Collin's first use of drum machines and a horn section within his songs. It could be assumed that Phil would sound uncomfortable with using these instruments when he is not familiar with them. That is absolutely not true on this album, a truly perfect 80's pop album. From the ballads (Long Long Way To Go)(One More Night)(Take Me Home) to the rockers (Sussudio)(Only You And I Know)(Don't Lose My Number), Phil spins one great song after another, not taking the time to slacken or stop until the album is finished. This album most likely replaced Michael Jackson's Thriller album in the number 1 spot, and it had the ammo to stay there for a long while. It is interesting that the hits were slightly weaker than some of the album cuts. They are all great, in any case. You will find this album somewhere in any teenager's living room if you look hard enough. Take a listen, and let Phil sing his heart out for your enjoyment. | Phil's best album! No Jacket Required album Simply put, this is Phil Collin's best album i think. The album starts of with the infamous 'sussudio' which is a song that you can listen to no matter how low you are feeling because it will always cheer you up! The other first set of songs, 'Only you know and i know' 'Long long way to go' and 'One more night' are all very well done, 'i dont wanna know' having a fantastic guitar solo, while the dark 'Long long way to go' and the soft 'one more night' adding a different take to the songs, while 'Don't lose my number' and 'Who said i would' being recognisable 80's pop tunes add a nice ring to the middle of the album. The last half of the album is fairly weaker, offering some of the songs that didnt fair quite as well as the others in the charts, although 'Take me home' is the one that stands out, as the song is actually meaning something else than what you may expect. ' Why doesnt anybody stay together anymore' and 'Inside out'are both intereting songs, offering some interesting beats and easy listening. 'We said hello good-bye' is the last song, and although slightyl shallow, ends up really being a nice relaxing song, and very meaningful too. Overall, this album is Phil Collins best, and includes some of the most memorable songs from the 80's that you will hear. If you are just getting into Phil's music, start with this one like i did!
