Personnel: George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher (vocals); Rob Barrett, Pat O'Brien (guitar); Paul Mazurkiewicz (drums); Erik Rutan (background vocals). Audio Mixer: Erik Rutan. Recording information: Mana Recording Studios, St. Petersburg, FL (10/2005-12/2005). Photographer: Alex Solca. One of the most infamous and censored death metal bands ever, Cannibal Corpse celebrates their 10th album with one titular sentiment: KILL. That's pretty much what it does, too. KILL reminds us who put the death in death metal, combining relentless and intense sounds with lyrics that couple Grand Guignol thrills with slasher-film imagery. Wiry, almost progressive time and tempo shifts choke out the intense riffage and bend it into dramatic extremes, as evidenced on "Five Nails in the Neck" and the assaultive introduction of "Brain Removal Police," exacting and technical in its delivery, much like the rest of the album. Designed almost solely to gross out those who dare read the blood-soaked lyric sheet, numbers like "Submerged in Boiling Flesh" and "Barbaric Bludgeonings" pretty much spell out their prurient intent in graphic detail. KILL certainly doesn't open any new doors in the lifespan (or deathspan, if you will) of Cannibal Corpse, but it doesn't close any either; those who listen should know exactly what they're getting, and will be satisfied that it delivers on all counts. Since the late-'80s, Cannibal Corpse has established itself as the vilest, loudest, and truest purveyor of B-movie audio horror, and with song titles like "Barbaric Bludgeonings," "Submerged in Boiling Flesh," and "Five Nails Through the Neck," the Buffalo, New York speed metal collective's tenth studio album feels like a bloody hug from an old friend. From the first explosive second of the blistering opener, "Time to Kill is Now," Kill reaches into the back of your throat and pulls out your writhing skeleton. This is metal crafted with little remorse for the eardrums and souls of its' people. Producer Erik Rutan (Hate Eternal/ex-Morbid Angel) cranks up the bottom end -- it's rare to be able to hear the kick drum in speed metal -- tightens the guitar leads and generally pounds the listener into submission through 13 aural assaults that will be welcomed by fans with open mouths. Kill doesn't break any new ground for the veteran sickos, but if it ain't broke don't fix it -- just turn it up louder. ~ James Christopher Monger Cannibal Corpse Kill Songs Kill Music Review Average Rating: (4.2 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Brutal who's the nerd below that was talking about musicianship and bad drumbeats?

Kill
$9.69 Cannibal Corpse: Chris Barnes (vocals), Jack Owen, Bob Barrett (guitar), Alex Webster (bass), Paul Mazurkiewicz (drums). Recorded at Morrisound Recording, Tampa, Florida from November 12 to December 3, 1993. All lyrics written by Chris Barnes. Cannibal Corpse: Chris Barnes (vocals); Jack Owen, Bob Barrett (guitar); Alex Webster (bass); Paul Mazurkiewicz (drums). Recorded at Morrisound Recording, Tampa, Florida from November 12 to December 3, 1993. Original Cannibal Corpse vocalist Chris Barnes would depart from the legendary Buffalo death/gore metal group he founded after 1994's THE BLEEDING; fittingly, he helped to create one of the most lurid and lyrically extreme albums of its kind as a final act of membership. Songs like "She Was Asking For It" and "F*cked with a Knife" are every bit as difficult to swallow as they are musically intense, and this reissue fleshes out the instrumentation and production to violently forceful ends. The final album of the Chris Barnes era, The Bleeding continues the trajectory Cannibal Corpse had ...

| | Cannibal Corpse Wretched Spawn CD (2004) With DVD
Kill
$9.69 The most enduring and uncompromising death metal band offers this 13-song slab of cannibalistic calamity, sure to astound diehard fans and disgust the politicians and critics who hate them so much. Produced by Neil Kernon, this is the uncensored digipak version with Vincent Locke artwork that will gross out even those hardened to serious gore imagery. Comes with a bonus DVD, "The Making Of The Wretched Spawn."
Cannibal Corpse: George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher (vocals); Jack Owen, Pat O'Brien (guitar); Alex Webster (bass); Paul Mazurkiewicz (drums). Recorded at Sonic Ranch Studios, Tornillo, Texas. For album number nine, Wretched Spawn, Cannibal Corpse continue on with much the same style of gore-themed death metal that had made them a mainstay of the stateside scene for a decade-and-a-half. Bassist Alex Webster and guitarist Jack Owen write most of the songs here, respectively, and those songs are pretty much what you've come to expect from Cannibal Corpse by this point -- musically pulverizing and lyrically unsettling. ...
| | Kataklysm In The Arms Of Devastation CD (2006)
Kill
$12.49 Kataklysm: JF, Maurizio, Max , Steph. Personnel: Maurizio Iacono (vocals); Max Duhamel (drums). Audio Mixer: Tue Madsen. Recording information: JFD Studio, Laval, Canada (07/2005-09/2005); Mixart Studio (07/2005-09/2005). The Canadian band Kataklysm's collection of pulverizing sounds cements its reputation as one of the country's premier death metal outfits, with hyper-speed workouts like "Let Them Burn" and "Like Angels Weeping (The Dark)" contrasting with the evil-sounding sonic sludge of "The Road to Devastation" and the seeping decay of "It Turns to Rust." Nearly two decades into their storied career by the release of 2006's mighty impressive In the Arms of Devastation (their tenth official release), Kataklysm are established not only as Canadian death metal's elder statesmen, but one of the genre's most consistently dependable acts, to boot. Equally dependable are their always apropos, album-introducing messages, which on this occasion happens to be the classic ...

$11.39 Suffocation: Guy, Derek, Mike, Terrance, Frank. File this one under "Don't Fix It if It Ain't Broken." Suffocation's seventh full-length--and third since its comeback on Relapse Records--finds the band sticking to the formula that has made them death-metal legends: cataclysmic twin guitar heaviness, technical virtuosity, and guttural vocals. The band also rises above genre trappings with flashes of genius--most notably in the drumming of Mike Smith whose beats are so unrelenting, they come off ...

| | Eyehategod Confederacy Of Ruined Lives CD (2000)
Kill
$9.65 Eyehategod includes: Mike Williams (vocals); Jim Bower, Joe Lacaze, Danny Nick, Brian Patton. Recorded at Balance Productions, Mandeville, Louisiana in June & July 2000. Audio Mixer: Dave Fortman . Recording information: Balance Production Studios, Mandeville, LA (06/2000-07/2000). After the veritable storm of festering ugliness kicked up by 1996's DOPESICK, the music on New Orleans sludge mongers Eyehategod's follow-up is surprisingly polished. Which is not to say that CONFEDERACY OF RUINED LIVES is anywhere near something that would be played on the radio. It's merely a step away from the harrowing ledge on which the band was standing previously. The production opens up some room for guitarist Jimmy Bowers to slip in some Southern-fried Skynyrd and Allman licks along with the swamp-thick heaviness, and gives the band enough space to establish some formidable grooves. Still, staggering ...

Kill
$43.09 The 1997 reissue of THE SLIDER features 3 additional tracks that did not appear on the original release; "Cadillac," "Thunderwing" and "Lady." Marc Bolan/T. Rex: Marc Bolan (vocals, guitar); Mickey Finn (vocals, percussion, congas) Steve Currie (bass); Bill Legend (drums). Additional personnel: Howard Kaylan, Mark Volman (background vocals). Recorded at Chateau D'Herouville, Paris, France and Rosenberg Studios, Copenhagen, Denmark. Includes liner notes by Mark Paytress. All tracks have been digitally remastered. Buoyed by two U.K. number one singles in "Telegram Sam" and "Metal Guru," The Slider became T. Rex's most popular record on both sides of the Atlantic, despite the fact that it produced no hits in the U.S. The Slider essentially replicates all the virtues of Electric Warrior, crammed with effortless hooks and trashy fun. All of Bolan's signatures are here -- mystical folk-tinged ballads, overt sexual come-ons crooned over sleazy, bopping boogies, loopy nonsense poetry, and a mastery of the three-minute pop song form. The main difference is that the trippy mix of Electric Warrior is replaced by a fuller, more immediate-sounding production. Bolan's guitar has a harder bite, the backing choruses are more up-front, and the arrangements are thicker-sounding, even ...
