| | Bellamy Brothers Lost Tracks CD Bellamy Brothers Discography of CDs
(3 Customer Reviews)
After spending most of the 1970s as a successful pop act, the Bellamy Brothers reinvented themselves for the country market in the 1980s with a succession of hits like "If I Said You Had a Beautiful Body Would You Hold It Against Me?" and "Sugar Daddy." However, this compilation goes further than a mere reissue set, containing an original version of "Spiders and Snakes," the hit the brothers wrote for Jim Stafford, and "Slippin' Away," one of their first country successes, as well as many other former singles and vintage songs previously unavailable on CD.

Lost Tracks
$10.29 Recorded between 1992 & 2002. Includes liner notes by Robert K. Oermann.
Though he has always essentially been a new traditionalist country singer in the vein of Aaron Tippin and George Strait, John Michael Montgomery found his greatest success with smooth, romantic ballads that recall the work of Glenn Frey as much as that of Merle Haggard. THE VERY BEST OF JOHN MICHAEL MONTGOMERY lives up to its title by including most of the singer's finest and highest-charting singles in both styles, in the process collecting a body of work that virtually defines the "new country" phenomenon. Montgomery has the kind of soothing pipes and perfect phrasing that endear him even to ardent country-haters, and his material has the kind of straight-for-the-gut forthrightness that is sure to attract anyone tired of the irony-drenched ...

| | Trick Pony R.I.D.E. CD (2005)
Lost Tracks
$7.29 R.I.D.E., the title of Trick Pony's third album, stands for "Rebellious Individuals Delivering Entertainment." Of course, in 2000's Nashville, rebelling could often mean playing straight-up old-school country while not taking oneself too seriously, two pursuits at which Trick Pony excels. A slice of good-time barroom country rock, R.I.D.E. manages to sound staunchly traditional while never sticking too close to a formula. Primary lead vocalist Heidi Newfield comes off like a bawdy mix of Tanya Tucker, Loretta Lynn, and Mae West, delivering the pure honky-tonk of "Ain't Wastin' Good Whiskey On You" and the tears-in-your-beer emotion of "When I Fall" with equal panache. It's guitarist Keith Burns, however, who delivers the record's most accessible song with "Sad City," which ...
| | Bellamy Brothers Angels & Outlaws Volume 1 CD (2005)
Lost Tracks
$8.49 Angels & Outlaws, Vol. 1 marks the initial release of the Bellamy Brothers' two-disc retrospective celebrating the 30th anniversary of their first number one hit, "Let Your Love Flow," in 1976. To commemorate the occasion, brothers Howard and David Bellamy assembled a wide array of guest artists, including Alan Jackson, Dolly Parton, George Jones, and Tanya Tucker, to add a new twist to several of their most recognizable hits. Souped-up versions of "Sugar Daddy," "Old Hippie," "Redneck Girl," and "If I Said You Had a Beautiful Body (Would You Hold It Against Me)" work well with slightly different arrangements and guest vocalists. With the release of Angels & Outlaws, Vol. 1, the Bellamy Brothers deliver the goods instead of simply providing re-recorded ...

| | Natasha Bedingfield N.B. CD (2007) Import
Lost Tracks
$11.65 In 2008 popster Natasha Bedingfield dropped a finely constructed, hook-filled effort in POCKETFUL OF SUNSHINE. Rootsy and groove-oriented, but with plenty of contemporary R&B studio polish (a combo especially evident on the reggae-inflected standout "Love Like This," featuring Sean Kingston), POCKETFUL manages to be both laid-back and glamorous at once.
Bedingfield is equally adept at breezy, catchy dance-pop (the title track) as she is at heart-tugging love ballads ("Soulmate"). Sharp productions, head-nodding beats, singalong choruses, and Bedingfield's smooth, appealing vocals make POCKETFUL go down easy, and will keep fans coming back to these tracks again and again.
