5 stars The Ox at his best...
I remember gettting this LP when it first came out. Alot of great tracks on it. Joe Walsh and Joe Vitale add a tight but not overbearing tempo. This re issue is special because of the remastering mix is great and a few bonus demos ( Kenny Jones on Drums). A must for any real Who fan, who loves The Ox. One of the best Entwhistle bass solos recorded in the studio on "Dancing Master". The "Sleeping Man" obviously about Townshend. Listen to the words in "Love is a Heart Attack" ( "Drugs I can handle , Booze I can quit." ) .....R.I.P The Ox...

With Adam Lambert, American Idol finally got a finalist who was completely, utterly contemporary, aware of what's hip in music and culture and aware of how music is made and consumed in 2009, never seeming to try to follow fads or set trends, just embodying the time. Mercifully, he came in second to Kris Allen, for if he came in first he may have had to tame his self-styled glamazon ways. Lead singer Andy Bopp certainly has a good idea of what makes three-minute power pop songs shine and evolve into gems. "Isn't It a Crime," the leadoff track, is a lovable and infectious song with all of the appropriate chords struck in the ideal places. A Beatles vibe works its way throughout "Albert S. Hand," especially the Eastern influences and assorted backward or subliminal sounds. Bopp's voice resembles John Lennon in an almost uncanny fashion. "Message '78" only builds on this foundation, but with more emphasis placed on the melody and backing vocals. One difficulty with the opening songs is how stellar they are both lyrically and structurally. "I'd Rather Be" is an early nominee for best song here, a straightforward power pop track. When Bopp strays into soppy pop ballads in "When She Cries," it still works but isn't quite as effective. A ...
