This Legacy edition expands the original audio release to the 73 minute double-album length it was once planned to be and also includes a second disc, Some Other Enchanted Evening, a semi-bootleg DVD of concert footage shot on the same 1978 tour.
Blue Oyster Cult: Eric Bloom (vocals, guitar); Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser (guitar); Allen Lanier (keyboards); Joseph Bouchard (bass); Albert Bouchard (drums). Additional personnel: Tony Cedrone, Rickey Reyer (percussion). Producers: Murray Krugman, Blue Oyster Cult, Sandy Pearlman. Recorded live at Barton Coliseum, Little Rock, Arkansas on April 9, 1978; Municipal Auditorium, Columbus, Georgia on April 11, 1978; Fox Theatre, Atlanta, Georgia on April 13, 1978; New Castle City Hall, New Castle, England on June 1, 1978. Blue Öyster Cult marks time with a second live album on which they turn out good, if redundant, concert versions of recent favorites like "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" and "Godzilla" and add to their repertoire of live covers such oldies as the MC5's "Kick out the Jams" and the Animals' "We Gotta Get out of This Place." A perfectly acceptable, completely unnecessary souvenir record from a hard-touring band of the '70s. (It should perhaps be noted that the mid- to late '70s was a period when more live albums than usual were being released, especially in the wake of Peter Frampton's massively successful 1976 album Frampton Comes Alive!.) ~ William Ruhlmann Blue Oyster Cult's second live album (which was also the group's second platinum effort) was recorded during the 250-date tour for SPECTRES. Always one of the better '70s live draws, Blue Oyster Cult used SOME ENCHANTED EVENING to showcase some of the group's heartiest epics alongside some of its more well-known selections. Among the stellar songs included are the southern rock-flavored "R.U. Ready 2 Rock" and the mystical "Astronomy," a song that's wrapped in blankets of Allen Lanier's swirling synths. A crunching version of the hit "(Don't Fear) the Reaper" is only surpassed by the thunderous "Godzilla," a monster epic that is this band's "Smoke on the Water." An interesting pair of covers, "Kick Out the Jams" and "We Gotta Get Out of This Place," found the members of Blue Oyster Cult not only tipping their hats to the rebellious side of the British Invasion, but paying homage to the spirit of anarchy represented by the MC5.

Great times. I saw them again in '79 on the Mirrors tour in which they had retired the laser for a Harley Eric Bloom rode on stage, which Judas Priest later stole from BOC. R.U. Ready To Rock!!! An Incredible live album just got a whole lot better. Finally the missing songs have been added, making this a more complete live document.
The mix sounds better with this remaster.
I want to thank Legacy for releasing this with the bonus DVD, which is very good quality for it's time, and the fact that it's a board mix to 3/4" video tape.
We finally get a real B.O.C. concert experience with this release, and it's
a great one! Submitted by kevinlsweet (SLC, UT.) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
A Classic Updated Blue Oyster Cult's "Some Enchanted Evening" has been one of my favorite live albums ever since it was released back in 1978. My only complaint (and that of others I've spoken to) was that it was just too short. Gladly this reissue remedies that with a half dozen cuts just as powerful as those on the original album. An absolutely essential recording for any serious fan of Heavy Metal. Submitted by Tuttle (Astoria, NY) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
