Enhanced CD features the "Our Truth" video, 10 minute 'on the road' mini-movie, exclusive photo gallery and more. This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. Lacuna Coil: Cristina, Andrea (vocals); Maus, Chris (guitar); Marco (bass guitar); Criz (drums, percussion). Italy's goth-metal practitioners Lacuna Coil are unique among their heavy-metal brethren. With their sharp songwriting skills and high-minded classical influences, and the evocative vocals of lead singer Christina Scabbia, the band has an undeniably distinctive sound. KARMACODE, Lacuna Coil's 2006 release, is one of their most polished and accomplished efforts. The band's melodic sensibility, which tends toward the dark and ambient, is at the center of KARMACODE, as is Scabbia's haunting, compelling singing. Moreover, the songs are quite accessible, with a catchiness that belies the group's seemingly anti-mainstream standing. Yet these pretty things adorn a sound that's deeply rooted in the muscle and grind of power metal, creating a sound that is at least as aggressive as it is evocative Many fans of prog metal would like to believe that once upon a time, the dramatic mood and operatic self-importance that define the genre came as a natural result of the music's compositional influences, and only recently has the over-the-top tone taken priority over musical quality. Whether or not such a magical time ever really existed, Lacuna Coil hearkens back to those possibly imaginary days with their 2006 release Karmacode. The Italian sextet's songwriting and instrumentation directly reflect the original naming of metal as a separate mineral from rock & roll, with a seamless blend of classical music and modern rock. As a result, the disc seems refreshingly self-possessed. The band doesn't intentionally shy away from the stylistic qualifiers that have come to exemplify progressive metal, it just allows the theatrical elements to emerge on their own. The album's goth voice, for instance, is readily apparent without desperate or forced attempts at spooky compositions, because it shines through in truly inspired melodies that just happen to be ethereal, exotic, and chilling. Likewise, Karmacode achieves communion with its power metal roots in songs written in an epic fashion, from the bottom up rather than through lyrics about dragons and elves. Karmacode seems immune to even the gloomier and more widespread trappings of metal, expressing emotion in ways that sound almost freakishly earnest and genuine. In addition to all of this potentially boring integrity, the disc is highly listenable. Though obviously unconcerned with finding a place in the mainstream, this release just as cool and catchy as anything by Evanescence, a band who took the causal switch between tone and musicality one step further, creating a pop version of an already diluted brand of metal. At least some generous chunk of the record's compelling nature can be attributed to singer Cristina Scabbia's enthralling timbre -- her reverberating call over the repeating choruses toward the end of the group's "Enjoy the Silence" cover makes this disc worth the price of purchase. The frontwoman was born with a strong, unique voice and would probably create bizarrely charismatic renditions of show tunes if that was her chosen art. Lucky for prog fans, her interests lie far from Broadway and with a style to which she brings dexterous technical skill, as well as a refreshing delivery. Despite Scabbia's attention-grabbing sound and stage presence, the album still has each bandmember to thank for its success, not to mention producer Waldemar Sorychta; they have done their jobs so deftly that one could easily opt out of paying attention to the sophisticated and complex nature of their creation and just enjoy the ride. ~ Cammila Albertson Lacuna Coil Karmacode Songs Karmacode Music Review Average Rating: (4.1 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Wasnt worth the 4year wait. Im sorry, but anyone with half knowledge of music cannot tell me this is album of the year material. The vocals are messy, the music is boring and the waaaa waaa wooo woooo waaha egyptiany mouth noises Christina makes on this album is terrible. It has nothing on any of there previous albums. Everything has been watered down and made uninteresting to appeal to the numb scull mass market. The Depeche Mode cover at the end is awesome tho. To some it up, the album just sounds flat, and you would expect someone who produced Moonspell and other great bands to have produced something better. No offence to anyone who likes this album, go wild. Submitted by midnite.nambla (DURBAN SA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.
from the best of the year has a notorious evolution from previous albums, and the work on the vocals is really good, the cover to depeche mode is a nice version with a lot of strenght and yet with feeling, really good bass pounding and very melodic songs without been comercial, a definitive option to buy Submitted by ilyreh (mexico city, d.f., mexico) Was This Review Helpful? a very good album the problem is most of these reviewers were looking for a comalies part two and thanks goes to lacuna coil for not doing that. they made another great album to be judged on its own, not compared to old lacuna coil albums. great job guys i look foward to the next great album! A masterpice of boringness... I really don't get all the hype and good reviews for this album, I loved Comalies since it had a lot of variety and orignal sounds but this is basically Lacuna Coils version of a "disturbed" cover band with female vocals.
Really! Replace Christina's voice with the guy from Disturbed and Voila, Disturbed with keyboards!
Add on top of all this that at least 8 songs sound exactly the same to each other and you get one of the most over hyped and boring albums of the year.
I wanted to like this but it just happens to be another well marketed product with no real value to it.
This is Britney Spears Metal. Submitted by Amy (Geneva, IL, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Well worth the wait I've been listening to this band since thier debut in 1998 and they never cease to impress me with each new release. Karmacode manages to top Comalies. It's good to see these guys get some recognition in the states. Submitted by metalmeister64 (Wellville,MI,USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Karmacode
$17.29 With three Gold records under their belt, over 1,000 live shows performed and millions of fans the world over, Sevendust once again is pushing the musical boundaries with this, their ground-breaking acoustic live concert performance. Recorded live at the Georgia Theatre, Athens, GA on Sept. 12th, 2003, this CD/DVD captures the beauty of Sevendust's songwriting and musicianship over their intense 60 minute set, and features songs from the entire Sevendust catalog. This package includes a 70 minute CD, a 2 hour DVD, a Sevendust branded guitar pick and a 24-page booklet. Recorded live on 9/12/03 at the Georgia Theater in Athens, GA.
Sevendust: Clint Lowery (vocals, guitar); Lajon Witherspoon (vocals); John Connolly (guitar); Vince Hornsby (bass guitar); Morgan Rose (drums). Liner Note Author: Tamara Scott-Bogard. September 2003 found Sevendust on the road, but without the amps, which they left in Atlanta in favor of acoustic sets. Southside Double-Wide documents that jaunt with a CD and DVD set capturing the band's September 12, 2003, gig at the Georgia Theatre in Athens. While the deluxe version's collectible box and postcards are nice, fans should be most excited about the music, which emphasizes musicianship over amplified heft and passion over full-bore aggression. Lajon Witherspoon's vocals have always had more soul than most of his peers. This lighter setup emphasizes his vocal, as well as the impressive harmony work of guitarist Clint Lowery. Morgan Rose opts for a full drum kit, only occasionally shifting to hand percussion. This is wise, as even without the electrification, Sevendust's grooves are pretty muscular. ...
