For two years, filmmaker and music video director Anthony Scarpa followed the all-girl punk rock band Betty Blowtorch, documenting their ferocious sound and dangerously low-tech pyrotechnic shows, unaware of the turmoil and tragedy that he will ultimately capture. From their near rise to the top of the major labels, to their ultimate sad end, this critically-acclaimed rock n roll tragedy features the band Betty Blowtorch, as well as other rockers such as Duff McKagan (Guns N Roses, Velvet Revolver), Vanilla Ice, Dez Cadena (Black Flag), Jennifer Finch (L7), Kevin Baldes (LiT), and many others. Extras include 2 Commentary Tracks, featurette, more. Formed in 1998, the all-girl rock band Betty Blowtorch tore into the Hollywood music scene with a riotous glam/garage rock sound and a surplus of anger, humor, verve, and attitude. Infamous for their wild, pyrotechnic, "balls"-to-the-wall live shows, Bianca Butthole, Blare N Bitch, Sharon Needles, and Judy Molish took over where Iggy Pop and The New York Dolls left off, and carved a niche usually reserved for male rockers. Documentary filmmaker Anthony Scarpa spent two years following the band, but his film took a tragic turn in New Orleans when lead-singer Bianca died in a car accident. The award-winning documentary goes inside the short but explosive life of the band, and provides an intimate and insightful look at the brash, crass, and ever-irreverent Bianca Butthole.

Betty Blowtorch (And Her Amazing True Life Adventures) video
$9.69 Spewing the sort of unrepentant, biker-bar hard rock that's glory days ended with the breakup of Guns N' Roses, Betty Blowtorch are four leather-pants-wearing gals from L.A. singing about wanton sex, petty jealousy, and your usual rock & roll subject matter with conviction and just a tiny bit of irony. Singer Bianca Butthole's former band, Butt Trumpet, was a silly punk band and Betty Blowtorch have definitely come up from that scene too. But they sound more at ...

$14.39 BRAINWASHED was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album. "Marwa Blues" won the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Performance. "Any Road" was nominated for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.
BRAIN WASHED may be the posthumous successor to 1987's CLOUD NINE, but the 15 years George Harrison took to put this collection of songs together was time well spent. Featuring a small group of musicians including son Dhani, fellow Wilbury Jeff Lynne, and Jools Holland, Harrison's last legacy showcases some of his finest playing wrapped around the kind of weighty topics expected from someone with terminal cancer. Introspective without being the least beat mawkish, the ex-Beatle touches ...

Betty Blowtorch (And Her Amazing True Life Adventures) review
$9.09 By the late 1970s, the golden age of '60s rock had devolved into a bloated corporate behemoth dominated by listless imitators of Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. Inspired by the anti-establishment subculture of American bands like Television and the New York Dolls, British manager-cum-svengali Malcolm McLaren assembled a ragtag quartet of working-class youth and transformed them into a revitalizing force ...

Betty Blowtorch (And Her Amazing True Life Adventures) DVD
$9.79 One of L.A.'s much-loved metal acts, Betty Blowtorch, came to a tragic end in late 2001 when frontwoman/bass player Bianca Butthole was killed in a high-speed car accident. Last Call is a rock-solid tribute to Butthole and the band, and a great look at one of the scene's rising stars. Betty Blowtorch was one of those bands that never cared to apologize ...
