| | Stephen Bennett River CD (2005)
Hommages II album
$13.95 RIVER includes his harmonic stunner, A Walk on Winfield Row, and two of his fans' favorites: I Knew It Was You, written about his experience with his deceased father on a hiking trail on Storm King Mountain, and The Most Beautiful Sky, which is a tune he wrote with his close friend, Bill Gurley, "after having the experience of seeing the same gorgeous sunset from 30 miles apart."----------So, What's Unique about Stephen Bennett? The testimony of concert-goers is that his work is the product of both mind and heart, intellectually challenging and emotionally satisfying - - and it is deeply personal, even as it is universal. Listeners have a feeling that they have stepped into the world of the musician, and for a short moment in time, there are only the two of them there. Says reviewer Kim Korman Brown, with the World Community Network in Norfolk, Virginia, "With his ear near the body of the harp guitar, Mr. Bennett gave the impression of a father cradling a newborn baby . . . His performance was imbued with heart and grace." Joe Morgan, producer of a Texas Guitar Festival, writes, "His music . . . draws the listener in. He has the ability to make you feel as though you are a part of the music he is making. There are many amazing guitar players that are not able to make that statement. . . . he's also one of the nicest people I've ever known. That comes through in his music as well."Want to know what his fans say?About the Performer"Stephen Bennett is a world class guitarist! He is a virtuoso player on the six-string guitar and the harp guitar. He is an important part of our Chet Atkins Appreciation Society Convention every year in Nashville. He is a wonderful composer and arranger, and I am sure you will be amazed at his music! Mark Pritcher, President, Chet Atkins Appreciation Society, 12/9/02"He has come to be known as an acoustic guitar master . . . Bennett offers a variety from fiercely flat-picked fiddle tunes, to delicate fingerstyle arrangements of anything from the Beatles to Tchaikovsky, with thoughtful expression, melodic inventiveness, and impeccable control over theinstrument." -Walnut Valley Reviews, 2002"Bennett plays in an insistently expressive manner with a precise, vigorous attack and flawless timing. . . He bends, stretches and wrings out simple, direct melodies on the ballads and can fire off convoluted phrases that string together all manner of syncopated, hammered-on and pulled off singlenotes, harmonics and crosspicked arpeggios on diminished runs, chromatic scales and suspended major and minor ninth chords on the faster tunes."-Walnut Valley Reviews, 1989"Count me a fan. It's amazing to me that the man can produce so many beautiful notes without obviously moving his fingers. ...

Hommages II CD music
$10.09 ME I won't hold you up too long. So, I'll tell you a few things about certain areas of my past. Here goes. I was raised 12 miles outside of Holly Springs Mississippi on a 56-acre farm. Holly Springs is about 40 miles South East of Memphis. We had cows and grew our own food. After graduation, I moved to Memphis and got a job at a grocery warehouse. I learned about the fast life quickly and at an early age I wanted to do something different. In the-mid 80's I had several jobs, moved to Nebraska for a year then Kansas for 3 years. In my late 20's I realized I had to get an education, so I went back to school. I was interested in music but knew what the odds were for being successful. So, taking the technical route, I finally got my BS in mid 1998. Around 1980 I wrote my first song. My friends said it wasn't that good and it really wasn't country. I always loved to play the guitar and sing cover songs. In the-mid 1990's I joined a Memphis band called "Country Comfort." I was the lead singer for about 2 years. We only played cover songs and ...

Hommages II music CDs
$13.15 ReviewYou just know something is more than a little wicked in this world from the first time you hear Hank Ray's so smooth baritone delivery bringing songs of delirium, loss and sacrifice. This is the darker side of country western pop mushed and smeared in the face of every lonely franchised bar along America's 21st century highways. These are the songs that we live not some namby cheer fest. You can't help but open the door from the opening strains of violin, guitar and thubbing bass in Endless Plains. Yes, every night is filled with some Trail of Dark Desires. Here it isn't evil as much as cool, detached, bleeding and forbidden. This is country with the reverb and echo of hot afternoons. The guitar walks behind and defines our thoughts and moans, but Hank Ray rides above the languid shuddering dreams. The Vegas parlor organ bridge's waves of songs I've seen tired waitresses dance to. In the end, we'll all probably meet at some heartless Bar-B-Q of Souls at least it will sound good. A world of Bleeding (all over youand Saturday Satan can't be that far from any of our fears or desires. Come in, Hank welcomes us, it's just that we'll always be watching him perform the soundtrack to our fragile imperfect days. I think Hank Williams would feel these stories as so 21st century true. --Jim Visser May 20th 2007 ReviewHank Ray is a roots man. The extremely prolific Mr. Ray, aka the Godfather of Death Country Rock, cut his teeth in the early 80 s in his fiery psychobilly band The Raymen with 13 albums. He has 4 solo efforts in his dark, Goth c&w style and 1 from a transition ...
