Husalah of C-Bo's Mob Figaz delivers the smooth and hard deliveries he is famous for on his all new album "Dope, Guns and Religion." This is his long awaited first solo album. Dope, Guns And Religion Music Husalah Dope, Guns And Religion Songs Dope, Guns And Religion Music Review Average Rating: (4.1 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews One of my all time favorites Even though there are quite a few problems with this album, I have to admit that this is truly one of my all time favorites. I've been listening to it for 2 years or so straight. And most every time I listen to it, I catch something new, whether it is a new rhyme, bit of slang, or insight into the tortured mind of HUSALAH.
In case you don't know, HUSALAH is currently locked up for getting busted with multiple keys in his car, driving interstate.
I think track #10, Through The Night, is probably the one track that really sums up the whole album. HUSALAH says a little prayer in the hook,
"Lord, just let me make it through the night
I'm pacing the block with lots of sh*t stuffed in my sock,
I'm watchin' the cops with the lights on top,
The four door vans with tinted windows on my block
There's hot ones in my clip, pants sweatin' and my grip
Got residue on my palms, from bustin' down a whole zip,
And when it's time to rock, the semi-auto gon' kick
And if they don't live, I think they shoulda asked You this
They shoulda asked You this..."
The song goes on, and it's clear that HUS is scared by his own lifestyle, fully aware of the stressful and hopeless life he lives...and he doesn't want to do any dirt on anyone else, but if he has to, he's just hoping the other guy said the same prayer. Because at one point, near the middle or the track, the hook changes, and says,
"Lord just let 'em make it through the night", where HUSALAH changes the word 'me' to ''em'. It's almost as if he's got the same compassion for anyone else who might want to challenge him for his spot, or is in his same shoes. The song starts to end.
But that's not where it stops. It's almost as if he catches himself right there, and changes his mind -- like he caught himself with his guard down -- his whole tone changes, and the song starts builds up again. The music gets crazy intense, and this bright, high pitched shimmering noise builds up that gives you a chill down your spine. You know some crazy sh*t is about to go down. HUSALAH starts ranting pretty far off in the background, as the music builds up to a climax,
"Fu*k that!
Nig*as gonna die, nig*a!
Straight the fu*k up nig*a, yeah
Know what I'm sayin'? Feel me?"
Then he launches off, full of fire and venom,
"Yo, the song was over, but I was forced to come back
Like some cooked coke in a pyrex -- bring it back!
Bring it back, let the husalah rap
Cause if he don't rap, you know a nig*a gon' jack
And if he don't jack you know the nig*a sellin' crack
And when I sell crack I regulate by leavin' nig*as dome flat..."
He continues on and gets more and more wound up, till his introspection and vulnerability gets completely dominated by the street vibe he's feeling.
HUSALAH is a complicated rapper. The type of guy who sees both sides of his life, both the night and day, but is never contrived, cheesy or pop in any way whatsoever.
I'd highly recommend this CD to anyone who can appreciate real raps from a real, human street hustler who is too smart to say poor, but too smart to think he's going to make it. Submitted by MOBB SF (San Francisco) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 2 of 2 found this helpful.

Dope, Guns, and Religion I agree with blazemo, he just didnt seem to care and he wanted to just get the CD done...track 4 beat was tight, but the lyrics and the lyrics on the rest of the tracks were weak and just too much N*gga this and N*gga that, no lyrical talent whatsoever and unlike Jacka I can not listen to a whole song before i get annoyed and then eventually take it out of the CD player Submitted by treehouse783 (St. Paul, MN) Was This Review Helpful? Dope, Guns And Religion album
$13.15 Enter the Jacka. The death of 2Pac in the mid 90's ripped the heart out of West Coast Hip Hop. At the same time a young street poet named the Jacka was honing his skills in the Bay Area Rap game. Always open minded, he was influenced by b-boys and thugs, pimps and Imams. The Jacka has since developed into an established, well-rounded, well-versed emcee in the right place to bring the West Coast some serious attention. The Jacka's music is a reflection of his life. He witnessed the birth of the dope game and the drug war that followed, as the battle was waged in his community, on his block, and in his house. Memories of departed loved ones haunt his mind and soul. His ...
