$15.19 Bernardo Bertolucci's vast historical melodrama used the massive popular, critical, and financial success of its predecessor, the scandalous LAST TANGO IN PARIS, to mount a production of epic scale. Cut down to four hours for its American release, the film utilizes an all-star Hollywood cast to tell its heavily Marxist tale of Italian peasants during the twentieth century. Two boys born on the same day are destined for divergent paths; Olmo (played by Gerard Depardeiu as an adult) is born to peasant parents and will become a passionate socialist, while Alfredo's (Robert De Niro as an adult) bourgeois, landowning origins will lead him to ultimately embrace fascism.
Driven by a sincere hope for and belief in political change, Bertolucci's film is nonetheless made up of very humane individual stories; it concentrates on highly personal experiences of a politically-charged time, which color the little dramas of love, sex, family, and community. ...

$21.49 The first film to positively depict homosexual relations was released in Germany in 1919, 50 years before the gay liberation movement began in the US. A masterpiece of the silent era from acclaimed director Richard Oswald (AROUND THE WORLD IN EIGHTY DAYS, LUCRETIA BORGIA) DIFFERENT FROM THE OTHERS starred one of the most popular German actors of the period, Conrad Veidt (THE CABINET OF DR. CALIGARI, CASABLANCA). The film was a direct condemnation of the German penal code's Paragraph 175, which sentenced those who were guilty of "unnatural vice between men" to serve a prison sentence. This historical milestone positively depicts gay lifestyles, condemns the cruel system that forced them to live in terror, and advocated the freedom of the "third sex." Though initially a moderate success at the box office, the film was subjected to sabotage from anti-gay activists, and eventually banned under the Nazi regime. Dr. Magnus Hirschfeld, head of the Institute of Sexology in Berlin, produced and starred in the film, and possessed the last print in his library; when this was raided by the Nazis, who burned everything, DIFFERENT FROM THE OTHERS was thought to have been lost for good. 43 years later a partial print was discovered in a Ukrainian archive in 1976. Combining this with still photographs and censorship documents, the current version was pieced together.
Veidt plays Paul Korner, a successful gay concert pianist who one night accepts an offer for a walk home from the shady Franz Bolleck, who intimates an interest in him. Upon arriving at their destination, Bolleck reveals his true intention: a blackmail threat to expose Korner's violation of Paragraph 175 if ...

$22.29 Red Alert made waves back in 1983 with their debut WE'VE GOT THE POWER, released on the legendary No Future label. But when the label dissolved, the band went with it. Reuniting in 1990 to finish what they'd started, they came on strong with the full force of momentum built up over the years, and haven't let up since. Red Alert has been playing to appreciative international crowds and recording extensively with their raucous brand of Oi! punk music, releasing such favorites within the punk community as BREAKING ALL THE RULES and BLOOD, SWEAT N' BEERS. This release is comprised of two complete concerts, one shot in Barcelona's Sister's Bar during the 2004 European tour, and the other shot in the US in 2000.
Region 0. The first ever DVD to feature one of the true stalwart bands of Punk Rock Red Alert. The group was formed in Sunderland in the North East of England in around May 1979. ...
