Japanese pressing. She sang the lead vocals on BRIAN WILSON'S favourite song ever ("Be My Baby"), she endured a tempestuous marriage to one of the greatest producers (and eccentrics) in pop music, and her voice, whilst maybe not the finest there is, has enough character for many to claim her as their favourite pop vocalist - she is the one & only RONNIE SPECTOR! As lead singer of the definitive "girl group", THE RONNETTES, she was the key voice in front of PHIL SPECTOR'S legendary "wall of sound" productions of the early `60s, and she sang on many songs that hold a special place in the pop music canon. She has inspired not just musicians of that era (THE BEATLES were massive RONNIE & PHIL SPECTOR fans and all four sang back up vocals behind her on a 1969 single - and then tried to seduce her!), but also of key bands of the `70s such as BLONDIE, THE RAMONES & PATTI SMITH. LAUGHING OUTLAW is proud to present the first new album from RONNIE SPECTOR in 20 years, `The Last Of The Rock Stars'. To prove the legendary status she has this record is crammed full of amazing guest stars, many of whom have showed a big influence of her in their own work: KEITH RICHARDS, PATTI SMITH, NICK ZINNER (of THE YEAH YEAH YEAH'S), the late JOEY RAMONE (on a great cover of the JOHNNY THUNDERS classic `You Can't Put Your Arms Around A Memory'), THE RAVEONETTES & neo-garage-freakbeat-R&B scorchers THE GREENHORNES. Last Of The Rock Stars album
$9.55 Susan Boyle's grand unveiling on Britain's Got Talent was with a song from Les Miserables - the very song that lends this album its title -- and if she could become an international sensation based on a show tune standard, there's no reason for her to change her approach on her debut, since that's the sound that made her a star. Plus, a large ...

Last Of The Rock Stars music CDs
$13.69 KELLY MONEYMAKERKelly Moneymaker's second CD "Through The Basement Walls" is a collection of rootsy, 60's inspired rock songs. The album title refers literally to Moneymaker creating the songs and early demos for this record in her basement, but the earthmoving tones in Moneymaker's vocals suggest another meaning. She's a woman with serious soul-her colorful voice and lyrical depth seep through the basement walls of Soul itself.A theme emerges through the songs that can be heard as a reverse echo-the cry that increases in volume each time it is repeated, urging the listener to "Let It Go!" Moneymaker ...

$19.25 The self-titled album by the short-lived outfit Affinity displays a lot of potential, which if not wholly successful has an individuality separating them from their more jazzy and progressive peers. | | Mikelyn Roderick Copasetic Is CD (2007)
Last Of The Rock Stars album
$9.75 Behold! A brand new soul treat - Blues & SoulThis album gets album of the month honor because it reminds the majors how great Indie label soul music has been leading the way these past years. Mikelyn is bending the music to suit what she does and she positively glows. If only radio peeps would play tracks from this alongside Joss and Corinne, then we'd be getting somewhere. - Chris Wells, Echoes Magazine"It's about damn time! I have been following Mikelyn for a long time and I am so happy she made this CD. She has a pure and inviting voice, and she really shines on this project. - Brian BrombergOff the bat, her name may seem unfamiliar, but as soon as you place her recently released DOME U.K. debut COPASETIC IS into your CD player, you will not only become familiar with her subtle artistry, but stunned by this 'artist's ' vocal dexterity and ability to breathe life into a song. At the end of a focused listening session, you'll wish there was more. A native woman with strong ties to the region of the world known as Cape Verde (both sets of grandparents hail from the Fogo and Brava Islands of Cape Verde), Mikelyn grew up listening to such Blues, Jazz, and R&B icons as Billie Holiday, James Taylor, Astrud Gilberto, Dinah Washington, and Burt Bacharach - all of whom inform her vocal style even now. 'I remember listening to Billie Holiday in the house my parents bought after we relocated to Boston when I was seven-years-old, and singing along with the record,' says Mikelyn as she smiles at the memory. Her unique ancestry proved to be a major influence as well. 'Back home at Cape Verde, women played a major role in funeral processions and often sang these incredibly mournful songs in the Fado-style, which is special to Cape Verde. Fado is a broken dialect of Portuguese and it's sound definitely has jazz inflections,' offers Mikelyn. But it was Diana Ross's riveting performance at the Boston Garden that Mikelyn saw when she was 16-years old which captured her heart and mind. Right there and then Mikelyn decided she wanted to devote her life to creating music. 'I've always loved the music of the 60's and '70's,' opines Mikelyn. 'It was crazy with funk, and very melodic, yet still filled with a sense of freedom, and that's the place I wanted to get to with Copasetic Is. ' After graduating from Boston's renowned Emerson College, ...
