The Sacketts stars western favorites Tom Selleck and Sam Elliott in a two part television adaptation of best-selling western author Louis L'Amour's third novel in his popular Sacketts series. The Sacketts is punctuated by the occasional gunfight, but also enlivened by a story that celebrates both the open range and the taming of the West. This exciting western was based on two best-sellers by the famous western author, Louis L'Amour. After the Civil War, three brothers head to the Wild West to seek their fortune rather than return home to Tennessee and a lethal family feud.
This is the only Jeffrey Osterhage video. Stars also making their debut in this video: Robert Totten. $9.79 Tom Selleck stars in this television movie adaptation of Robert B. Parker's novel as New England police chief Jesse Stone. After a serious gig as a top homicide detective in Los Angeles, Stone settles in a small town along the coast of Maine where he leads a relatively simple life. In the predominantly crime-free town of Paradise, Stone tries to minimize the drama in his life by drinking heavily, avoiding his bitter ex-wife, and keeping his new, younger girlfriend at a safe distance. But things for Stone and the other inhabitants of Paradise are thrown into chaos when a dead body washes ashore, and a high school student confesses to being raped by not one, but several attackers. Drawing on his experience as a big city investigator, Stone must ...

$6.39 Clint Eastwood plays an alcoholic, dim-witted cop, Ben Shockley, who has to escort an irate prostitute, Gus Mally (Sondra Locke), from Las Vegas to Phoenix so she can testify in a mob trial. Gus immediately warns Ben of the danger that they're in, but he doesn't believe her. He eventually figures out that his superiors want Gus dead and chose him for the job because they thought he'd fail. The two spend most of the film eluding the trigger-happy cops. The banter between Ben and Gus, who initially despise each other, is just as brutal and entertaining as the action set pieces. And when the two finally warm to each other, it's surprisingly effective. Eastwood and Locke made many films together, but THE GAUNTLET features what may be their strongest collaboration. Literal-minded critics may malign the film for its over-the-top explosive action, but it's clear that Eastwood was aware of how outrageous and preposterous the action in ...

Sacketts DVD
$13.55 This animated mock documentary directed by Chris Buck (TARZAN) and Ash Brannon (TOY STORY 2) follows penguin Cody Maverick (Shia LaBeouf) from his hometown of Shiverpool, Antarctica, where all of the other penguins think he's a surfing fool, to the "Big Z Memorial Surf Off" on Pen Gu Island. This teenage penguin is determined to win the most important competition in the world of penguin surfing in honor of "Big Z," a deceased surfing legend whom he has idolized since childhood. But the waves in Pen Gu are different than in Shiverpool, and the competition is steep. The current champ, egotistical Tank Evans (Diedrich Bader), isn't about to let this little penguin knock him from first place without a fight. When Cody wipes out and encounters Geek (Jeff Daniels), a recluse living in the jungle, he learns some important lessons about life and surfing, and even teaches Geek a thing or two.
The documentary/reality show format is a delightful surprise, and side interviews with other characters make it particularly effective. The attention to detail in this feature is terrific. The foam, waves, sand, expressions, and movements are all quite realistic, and the voices are spot on. Shia LaBeouf hits the mark perfectly as Cody, and Jeff Daniels is fun as the aging former surfer, Geek, who imparts his wisdom to the newbie. Mario Cantone voices the perpetually exasperated talent scout, Mikey, who works for sports promoter Reggie (James Woods). Jon Heder and Zooey ...
