Rough Riders is a fact-based, rough and tumble western depicting a young and energetic Theodore Roosevelt (Tom Berenger, Platoon, Major League) leading his legendary "Rough Riders" in their fight against oppressive Spanish rule at the turn of the 20th century. This two-part miniseries directed by John Milius (Apocalypse Now, Clear & Present Danger) is housed on 2-discs along with special features including director's commentary and never-before-seen footage. The television miniseries dramatically recreating Teddy Roosevelt and his regiment as they fight the Mexican-American War.
This is the only Curtis Akin video. Rough Riders Movie Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars)   Is is truthful?
Pretty good action flick, although the war preparations are drawn out way too long. The historical accuracy is also drawn into question. Like most movies, historians should not rely on it, just sit back and enjoy.

 One of the best war movies ever
Historically accurate, dramatically compelling, with superb character development. Gives the Rough Riders their undeniable credit, but also justly highlights the Buffalo Soldiers who carried the main burden at San Juan Hill. A must have for the historian and/or war buff.

I am currently engaged in writing a book focusing on wester movie dialog, and rating movies overall. I rated this movie a B+. Historically accurate, with some great western dialog.

Most of TNT's movies are'nt that good,but this one stands out.Tom Berenger,Sam Elliot,and Gary Busey put up some good performances.

In 1898 the US government, led by Theodore Roosevelt (Tom Berenger) back when he was still a young, ambitious Naval Secretary, intervenes on the side of the Cuban rebels in their struggle against Spanish rule. Always ready for action, Roosevelt leaves the confines of the sidelines and forms a volunteer cavalry regiment which later became infamously known as the "Rough Riders." Roosevelt's regiment brings together volunteers from all corners of the nation to fight against a far superior adversary in one of the most rousing victories in American history.
