| | Pat Benatar Crimes Of Passion CD Pat Benatar Discography of CDs
(3 Customer Reviews)
While her 1979 debut IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT spawned a few radio hits ("Heartbreaker," etc.), it wasn't until 1980's CRIMES OF PASSION that Pat Benatar became one of the 80's top rockers. Most female-led rock bands of the time were punk rock based (Blondie, the Runaways, the Pretenders), but Pat's music had more in common with classic rockers--hence rock radio's immediate support. Arguably Benatar's greatest record, CRIMES OF PASSION contains several of her best-known tracks--the melodic rock anthems "Treat Me Right," "You Better Run," and "Hit Me With Your Best Shot."
Recorded at Sound City, Van Nuys, California.
Personnel: Pat Benatar (vocals); Neil Geraldo (vocals, guitar, keyboards); Roger Capps (vocals, bass); Scott St. Clair Sheets (guitar); Myron Grombacher (drums).
Pat Benatar Crimes Of Passion Songs Crimes Of Passion Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) All Hail Queen Of Rock And Roll Pat Benatar is without a doubt the greatest rock and roll singer in the world. Her powerful vocal is as impressive as any other in rock genre. She can hit those incredibly high notes at ease and sing with passion, that sends chills down your spine. It's a rare thing in rock music. "Crimes Of Passion", her 1980 follow up to hugely successful debut "In The Heat Of The Night" shows Benatar at her heights as rock vocalist. This album went all the way to #2 on charts and sold five million copies worldwide, making Benatar the most popular female artist at that time. Popularity and sales aside, this album is definately one of the greatest rock albums in history. Every single song sounds just like potential hit single. In fact, few of them ruled the charts back in the early 80's, like legendary: "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" or "Treat Me Right". But "Crimes Of Passion" offers more than bunch of hit singles. Other album tracks, like: "Never Wanna Leave You" or Kate Bush cover "Wuthering Heights" sound incredibly well, if not better. But to me, the highlight of this collection is classic "Hell Is For Children". This song made me Benatar die hard fan. I love this song, not only because of its thought provoking lyrics but also for guitar solo in the middle of the song and Benatar's fiercy performance. If you don't have "Crimes Of Passion", don't waste precious time and buy it as soona s it's possible. Submitted by Piotr (Bielawa, Poland) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Benatar's Biggest Success CRIMES OF PASSION was Pat's second album, and her most successful to date. It sold over 4 million copies in the U.S. alone, spawned 4 hit singles ("You Better Run", "Hit Me With Your Best Shot", "Treat Me Right" & "Hell Is For Children"), AND was the first album to win Pat a grammy award for best rock album in 1980. Now it's in remastered form!! Pick up this classic rock masterpiece...you won't be dissapointed! Submitted by Samm (Lafayette, IN USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

| | Pat Benatar Greatest Hits CD (2005) Remastered
Crimes Of Passion
$11.39 Though things were a bit looser in post-punk and New Wave circles, mainstream rock in the late-1970s/early-'80s was largely a man's game, with females chauvinistically shunted off to ancillary status. Pat Benatar played a major role in changing the AOR gender dynamic. Ruling the radio for a number of years, her belting vocal style and hard-rocking hits defined an era for many, as exemplified on GREATEST HITS. With their charging guitars and fiery vocals, the likes of "Heartbreaker" and "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" bear the influence of Led Zeppelin and AC/DC streamlined for the New Wave era, shot through with concision and a pronounced pop sensibility. Benatar's approach expanded as the '80s rolled on; "Shadows of the Night," penned by cult power-popper D.L. Byron, is an elegant power-ballad tour de force. ...
| | Boston CD (1976) Reissue; Remastered
Crimes Of Passion
$6.09 Recorded on a simple 12-track recorder as a demo, it was so good that the record company released it. Tom Scholz masterminded the project in his spare time; little did he know that this record came to define AOR, and would become a hi-fi store standard demo disc. Since that time, this record-breaking debut has sold 15 million copies in its homeland. Sholtz put so much effort into making it, he has managed only ...
| | Pat Benatar In The Heat Of The Night CD (1979) Remastered
Crimes Of Passion
$9.09 IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT is where it all started for Pat Benatar. Her 1979 debut includes several tracks that automatically caught the ear of rock radio, and perfectly set up a recording career that by the mid-'80s would make her one of the top female rockers in the U.S.
While other female-fronted rocker outfits such as Heart incorporated elements of Led Zeppelin into their sound, Benatar and her band went the opposite route and incorporated melodic pop into their hard rock. Such highlights as "Heartbreaker" and a cover of John Mellencamp's "I Need a Lover" have become ...
| | Pat Benatar Precious Time CD (1981) Remastered
Crimes Of Passion
$8.99 Pat Benatar was riding high in 1981--just coming off her biggest success yet with the previous year's CRIMES OF PASSION, she immediately issued her third album, the U.S. chart-topping PRECIOUS TIME. While not as strong as its predecessor, PRECIOUS TIME was another big hit, spawning several more radio hits.
The album proved to be one of Pat's last hard rock-oriented releases (she would explore pop and synth sounds on her future albums). It doesn't disappoint, including as it does one ...
