Around 8 P.M., it's time for a dinner, or an intimate tête-à-tête, and this is a disc intended to set the romantic mood with slow, sensual music. There's nothing upbeat, just music to keep the tension simmering, like offerings from Susana Baca or Omara Portunondo. There's quite a mix, from Cuba (which provides the majority of the tracks) to Bolivia, Brazil to Peru, and it's all world-class -- absolutely no filler in this meal. Papa Noel and Papa Oviedo supply dessert with "Juliana," but along the way there are plenty of succulent morsels to provide the soundtrack (along with recipes for food and cocktails in the booklet). Just don't dismiss Cafe Cantante: 8 PM as background; you'll find the conversation stopping to take in a piece, your head gently nodding, and an urge to bust into song with your date. ~ Chris Nickson Cafe Cantante: 8 PM Music Cafe Cantante: 8 PM Songs Cafe Cantante: 8 PM Review

$15.49 This CD is designed to take you through a gentle, yet powerful re-creation of the beginning of your life. Although most of us don’t consciously recall our conception, gestation and birth, they can have a profound effect on our experience of life. Whatever your experience may have been, Cathy offers you a supportive guided journey to help you re-create the foundations of your life as deeply secure and filled with love. At the end of this journey, the loving voices of Shaina and Richard Noll will embrace you with an affirming song of welcome to the world. The intent of the CD is to offer you a deeply healing and transformative experience, a journey that you can take again and again, with far reaching benefits in your life. From the liner notes, from Cathy Chapman: Just as we may absorb our parents’ feelings when we are children, so do we absorb emotions from our mother and the surrounding environment from the moment of our conception up through our birth experience. These initial imprints can have lasting effects. Many core issues like low self-esteem, persistent fears, sadness or depression can have their roots in the very beginning of our lives. Many of us had less than optimal experiences from conception through birth. Some of us were unwanted, and we felt that. Some of us had mothers who were overwhelmed, ambivalent, ill or grieving while we were growing inside them. Some of us were gestating during times of war, or crisis in the family, and were deeply impacted by these energies as we were beginning our lives. Whatever your experience may have been, if it was less than deeply supportive and nourishing for you, I offer this guided journey to help you re-experience your conception, gestation and birth. The journey will give you the opportunity to re-create these foundational experiences as filled with love, absolute support, and a heartfelt and joyous welcome into this world. It is my experience that a deep healing of these primary imprints can have a profound effect on every aspect of your life. My guided journey is followed by a song of welcome, written by Shaina Noll and sung with tenderness and love by Shaina and her husband, Richard, as the voices of the loving mother and father welcoming you into this world. I invited Shaina to write a song to follow my guided journey, as I felt warmly embraced and healed by Shaina’s CD, Songs for the Inner Child. We offer this opportunity to lovingly re-create the foundations of your life with the hope that my guided journey, and the loving voices of Richard and Shaina as they sing to you, will gift you with a deep and healing experience of how welcome, loved and safe you ...
