(2 Customer Reviews)
One of the quintessential late-1980s/early-'90s hair-metal bands, Cinderella excelled at ragged, glam-tinged hard rock with melodic leanings, as best exemplified by its MTV power-ballad hits "Don't Know What You Got ('Til It's Gone)" and "Nobody's Fool," both featured on this well-selected two-disc retrospective. Led by the perpetually pouting frontman Tom Keifer, the Philadelphia-based group also had a more energetic bar-band quality that is showcased on the six live tracks that close out GOLD. This is ideal one-stop shopping for devoted Cinderella fans.
Cinderella: Tom Keifer, Jeff LaBar (vocals, guitar); Eric Brittingham (bass guitar, background vocals); Fred Coury (drums, background vocals).

| Gold Music Review Average Rating: (3.5 out of 5 stars) Almost Great The best thing about this 2 disc set of hits is that it is remastered. So that makes it worth picking up on it's own. And being that Cinderella only had 4 studio albums in it's career, you get all the hits, and plenty of album tracks as well, including several cuts from the underrated "Still Climbing". My only complaint! To many live songs, including some of the hits. I've always felt that live tracks have no buisness on a best of CD, thats what live albums are for. Of course, an exception to my opinion is if it were the live version that was a hit (Musta Got Lost by J. Geils for example) then it's ok. Too Much! Now don't get me wrong, I like Cinderella. Their music holds up better than a lot of bands of their vintage. But this set is just overkill. We get almost the entire Heartbreak Station album, which wasn't their best, and a slew of songs like "Second Wind," "Once Around the Ride," and "If You Don't Like It" that are just unnecessary. If you're that into the band, you should just go ahead and buy the individual albums. Otherwise, the single-disc Rocked, Wired and Blused is a much better value. The only reason I can see to buy Gold would be to have the seven or so tracks from the perennially underrated and out-of-print 1994 swan-song Still Climbing. And you can find that used fairly easily. Gold CD music
$14.79 Born in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, Pedro began his professional career as a pianist at an early age after completing 5 years of studies at the State Conservatory of Music in Uberlandia, his hometown. Later in Brasilia, the capital of the country, he attended several specialization courses and workshops at the local music school where he was exposed to a variety of musical influences, national and worldwide. Participating in high-profile shows such as Project Classic Park and Sarau Instrumental Gates, he had the opportunity to share the stage which featured richly talented and already established musicians. Just to mention a few, saxophone player Widor Santiago, guitar player Lula Galvão, bassist Alfredo Paixao; trombone-player Raul de Souza; composer Itamar Barros, the internationally famous Brazilian singer Rosa Passos; jazz singer Itamara Koorax, voted one of the best jazz artists in the world; and also the well known Latin percussionist Alex Acuna from California, among others. From 1992 to 1994, Pedro lived in San Francisco, California where, again, he had the opportunity to perform with great names of the Brazilian, Spanish and American music scene, expanding his knowledge and music influences as well as incorporating new techniques into his "sound" performing alongside inspiring artists. Among them are Gary Brown (bassist for Flora Purim, Airto Moreira, and Dori Caymmi) guitarist Jeff Buenz, drummer Kurt Moore, and bassist Kai Eckhardt.Maintaining his roots, Pedro interpreted pretty much all kinds of Brazilian rhythms to the so eclectic community such as the Californian, performing with respected local Brazilian transplants. While traveling between the US and Brazil, Pedro completed courses ...

| | Guillermo Klein Filtros CD (2008)
Gold album
$13.65 Guillermo Klein has, through a handful of CDs, incorporated minimalism, deeply hued piano chord shadings, progressive big-band charts, and folk rhythms from his native Argentina. He continues on this path with his group Los Guachos (not spelled "gauchos," as in the South American pampas cowboys), an exceptional 11-piece group that is as skilled and dedicated to this music as is the leader. Klein is heard singing songs more on this effort, and incorporates 20th century composers in the mix. Indications are that although this is progressive jazz stylistically, Klein's influences and taste goes well beyond bop, standard ballads, or American blues, and he has attained a signature sound that is recognizable from the opening track. Klein is also always good for at least two epic tracks per effort, and here "Muila" sports an iridescent melody played in 6/8 and then reversed, fueled by the flute of Miguel Zenón, high-end horns, and a lithe valve trombone solo from Diego Urcola. "Luz de Liz (Filtros)" is in mixed meters with crying horns and a probing piano -- a slow and deliberate ride on the mystery train for sure, with unpredictable tempo and drum accents from the always able Jeff Ballard. Urcola is back on his familiar trumpet with ...
