Personnel includes: Nils Lofgren (vocals, acoustic guitar); Tom Lofgren (acoustic guitar, piano, synthesizer, background vocals); Paul Bell, Mark Lofgren (acoustic guitar, background vocals); Michael Lofgren (acoustic 12-string guitar, background vocals). Acoustic Live is a small treasure for longtime Nils Lofgren fans. Capturing Lofgren alone in front of an appreciative audience, knocking out such favorites as "You," "No Mercy" and "Keith Don't Go," plus six new songs. Even with the new songs, there are no real revelations, only a selection of little gems that will certainly bring a smile to the face of any longtime Lofgren fan. ~ Thom Owens Nils Lofgren Acoustic Live Songs | 1. | You | |

| Acoustic Live Music Review Average Rating: (4.7 out of 5 stars) Nils Lofgren/Acoustic live The audio on live albums tends to vary widely. When and where the performance was recorded; how it was miked, amplified, recorded; mixing, post production and mastering can affect the sound quality of the final release. This 1998 release is just terrific. Most of Nils’ solo releases are very well recorded. He’s an interesting artist. I once bought him a double banana daiquiri at a show in a small venue in Connecticut around 1975 …really! His voice is unique. From his early work with Grin, through his solo career, playing with Neil Young, Crazy Horse, Ringo’s All Star Band and his work with Bruce Springsteen, Nils’ guitar work has always been masterful and tasty. This performance was recorded at the Barns of Wolftrap in Virginia in 1997. The songs cover tunes from his first self-titled release such as, Keith Don’t Go, through Black Books from Damaged Goods. The stand outs for me are track 1, You, track 6 Wonderland and track 13 Blue Skies. But this release is very well recorded and if you like singer/songwriters, you’ll enjoy this live performance. All tracks were written by Nils. Very well recorded live performance. Submitted by Zig (San Jose, CA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 2 of 2 found this helpful.

| | Stone Temple Pilots Thank You CD (2003)
Acoustic Live
$11.29 Stone Temple Pilots: Scott Weiland (vocals); Eric Kretz, Robert DeLeo, Dean DeLeo. Producers: Stone Temple Pilots, Brendan O'Brien. Compilation producer: Dean DeLeo. Includes bonus DVD with live performances, music videos, still photos and bootleg performances shot by fans and friends. Audio Mixers: Chris Lord-Alge; Brendan O'Brien. Recording information: Cello Studios, Hollywood, CA. Photographers: Marcelo Torok; Chapman Baehler. Some bands get no respect, no matter what they do, but Stone Temple Pilots suffered the slings and arrows of outrageous misfortune more than most. Some of this was brought on by themselves, particularly in the early days when they sounded like a mix of Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains and relied on macho bluster in their videos, but critics and rockists singled them out as the one band that typified how the establishment was going to sell out the alt-rock revolution that Nirvana kicked off in 1992, the year punk broke. By Stone Temple Pilots' second album, 1994's Purple, they had not only gotten better and weirder than expected; they'd also had the benefit of being surrounded by bands that really were corporate alt-rock rip-offs, so they not only had gotten better, but circumstances made them seem better, too, even if many critics still clung to their blind hatred of the band. Then, as the music guitarist Dean DeLeo and vocalist Scott Weiland wrote continued to get more interesting, Weiland began his descent into drug addiction, cycling through jail and rehab innumerable times. There was a brief parting of the ways in 1997, as Weiland recorded a solo album and the remaining trio formed the short-lived Talk Show, but the group soldiered on into 2001, cutting solid records, yet they were ultimately derailed by Weiland's addictions -- which, in a charming display of empathy, made some of the band's longtime critics gloat. But, as the years pass, the turmoil gradually fades away (even though Weiland was arrested for DUI weeks before the release of this album), and the music stands at center stage, and it's best heard on Thank You, a 14-track collection of the group's hits (the album clocks in at 15 tracks, but "Plush" is repeated in a widely popular acoustic version). Though each record found STP trying different things and each has a clutch of good album tracks, they were at their best as ...
| | Essential Pete Seeger CD (2005) Remastered
Acoustic Live
$7.59 Personnel: Pete Seeger (vocals, 6-string guitar, 12-string guitar, banjo); Almanac Singers, The Weavers. Liner Note Author: Dave Marsh. Pete Seeger is the sort of person who has become the stuff of legend for all the best reasons. As a musicologist, he's been a passionate archivist of folk songs of all sorts from around the world for most of his life, and thousands of people (perhaps millions) would not have heard songs such as "Goodnight Irene," "This Land Is Your Land" and "Wimoweh" (aka "The Lion Sleeps Tonight") had he not championed them. As a songwriter, any man with "If I Had a Hammer," "Where Have All the Flowers Gone," "I Come and Stand at Every Door" and "Turn, Turn Turn" in his catalog (among many, many others) has created a truly impressive repertoire. As a musician, it's hard to count how many people picked up the guitar or banjo from his example, and he's always been a pithy and compelling player. And as an activist, Seeger has bravely put his ideals of peace, justice and equality ahead of his career in a manner few musicians of any stature have ever dared or even imagined. However, since Seeger is as influential as any figure in the history of American folk music, and has been recording since the 1940s, the question is -- can this man's life in music be accurately summed up on a single CD? That more than anything is the rub with The Essential Pete Seeger, a compilation which focuses primarily on Seeger's recordings for Columbia from the 1950s and '60s. Assembled by Nedra Olds-Neal, The Essential Pete Seeger does make some important gestures towards being career-inclusive -- it includes the 1950 hit recording of "Goodnight Irene" with the Weavers, as well as Seeger's 1941 version of "Talking Union" and a few other tracks licensed from Smithsonian Folkways (who issued the majority of Seeger's catalog). Many of the songs most closely associated with Seeger are included (if not always in their definitive recordings), and all these performances (especially the ones recorded before a live audience) are impassioned, powerful and direct from the heart, especially "Guantanamera" and "We Shall Overcome" (the understated force of the latter is still remarkably moving more than forty years after it was recorded). But this man has made far too much important music for a single disc to hold all that is "essential." The Essential Pete Seeger is a ...
