| Primer Acto Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) Wonderfully sung symphonic modern metal! Ok, I warn you, this is sung in Spanish. However, I dare to say that the bestial and powerful beauty of the music displayed on this album is 100% universal. These songs sound almost gothic, but with a traditional metal edge thanks to the widely-ranged and expressive voice of Leo Jimenez. The songwriting and the arrangements are very lyrical too. The music is modern, original, broadly orchestrated, plenty of dark and menacing tints, bunches of aggressive guitar riffs, as well as an omnipresent and monstrously over-the-top drumming.
You should like this album if you are into any genre of heavy metal. In fact, it is one of those rare albums in where keyboards (very intelligent and sensitive) don't detract from the overall heaviness. It is a symphonic opus full of progressive winks, yes, but it's also very raw and emotional by nature. Consistent nods to gypsy and Spanish music are spread all along this release, which adds an exotic extra flavour to the recipe. It's simply an epic masterpiece that moves away from power metal with grace and attitude, while explosiveness and good taste blend together into the next level. Guaranteed to please the most exigent ears! That's why "Primer Acto" is quickly becoming one of my preferred metal albums ever. Five stars then, and GO BUY THIS THING RIGHT NOW! :-) Submitted by Ionel M. (Montreal, Canada) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Primer Acto album
$5.55 CARNIVAL OF SOULS is the last studio recording with Bruce Kulick and Eric Singer before the return of original members Ace Frehley and Peter Criss.
Despite a 1996 press conference on the U.S.S. Intrepid that announced Bruce Kulick and Eric Singer were on a "paid temporary vacation," the two were dismissed months later after a reunion tour of the original make-up clad members proved wildly successful. As the sub-heading states, CARNIVAL OF SOULS is the last recorded efforts of Kulick and Singer with Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley. Drawing on music trends started as far back as the lean times of the '80s, CARNIVAL finds Kiss putting together a sound that draws from the dirge of Alice In Chains and the crunch of old-school Metallica.

Primer Acto songs
$18.99 Noah Baerman makes a powerful statement with his trio album "Patch Kit," featuring the all-star rhythm section of bassist Ron Carter and drummer Ben Riley. It is not only passionate jazz from a soulful and mature young pianist, but also the transformation of a negative situation into a positive one. In the midst of his struggles with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), Noah produced Patch Kit as a way to raise awareness of this serious but little-known condition. Also, all of the proceeds go to the Ehlers-Danlos National Foundation (EDNF), an organization that provides information about EDS and support for people affected by it. Individuals with EDS are born with a defect in their connective tissue, the tissue which provides support to many body parts such as the skin, muscles and ligaments. While Noah was often injured throughout his youth, he was blissfully ignorant of how EDS would ultimately impact his career. In 1992 he entered Rutgers University, earning Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Jazz Studies under the tutelage of Kenny Barron. Wrist struggles were a constant, but he pushed forward, performing in and around New York with the quartet Positive Rhythmic Force (with whom he toured frequently and recorded two albums), Ralph Bowen, Wayne Escoffery, Charles Fambrough, Jimmy Greene, Stefon Harris, Tana Reid and Mark Turner. In his mid-20s, however, Noah began to fully realize the extent to which EDS would limit him. All of his joints were increasingly prone to injury and chronic pain, especially when subjected to frequent travel and performances. He was fortunate to have other options, teaching jazz at several universities and writing eight successful books for Alfred Publishing Company, including the recent Big Book of Jazz Piano Improvisation. Still, his "tissue issues" were threatening his continued ability to perform at the highest level. But while the long-term outcome remains to be seen, we now have Patch Kit as a document of what he has accomplished so far. With two of his jazz idols, Noah works through a varied yet cohesive program. While EDS has already compromised his chops, no impairment is in evidence on up tempo romps like "Carob Powder." One could even surmise that his obstacles have deepened ...
