At this point in their career, Steve Lukather and Toto really have nothing to prove to anyone in the rock & roll community. They've accumulated more Top Ten hits with their ballads alone than most bands have their entire career, to say nothing of rock anthems that became cornerstones of arena rock during the '70s and '80s. And while it's been nearly a decade since original material was issued (2002's Through the Looking Glass was an album consisting of cover versions), Falling in Between sounds like a band trying to find itself during a midlife crisis. The title track, while adventurous by Toto's standards with its mixed-metered time signatures and Middle Eastern influences, sounds exactly like the prog rock heroes they aspire to emulate (confirmed by the track-by-track commentary provided in the liner notes). "Dying on My Feet" sounds like a cross between '80s-era Chicago and Foreigner, thanks in no small part to Chicago's James Pankow contributing horn arrangements and playing trombone on the tune. Things do get better along the way. The band finally finds its footing midway through, delivering well-polished performances, and Lukather's voice has stood the test of time surprisingly intact, especially when compared to some of his contemporaries. And while there's no new ground being trodden here, the band sounds fantastic thanks to amazing production values, delivering material that can stand up to some of their best stuff. ~ Rob Theakston

Never better. Toto has made the best music of their entire career. Now that sounds like a big boast, but start to finish, every song, every note, is great. Great vocals by all , impressive song writing.
Get this CD, you will not be sorry. Submitted by herronm_98 (Texas) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.
Probably the best TOTO ever! I've heard this album now for a couple of weeks and it simply gives the best TOTO mixture one can imagine. Great instrumentation, great melodies, perfect production. I think this album features more lead vocalists than any other TOTO-Record before. Luke plays the heaviest riff you've ever heard him playing in the opener "Falling in Between". And I love a record with pianos everywehre and in between.
If you're into great, diverse melodic rock, this record is a must-buy!
I never understood why TOTO had such a lack of support in the US. This record will prove any critic wrong! Submitted by Sebastian (Muenster, Germany) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.
Thank you for nice album TOTO This album shows that good music can still be made in today's poor radio play. Solid album, a couple of weak tracks but most songs are very catchy. Favorite song is "Let It Go" nice guitar riffs and Greg shows his talents. "Falling in Between", "King of the World," "Hooked", are very rocking tracks. Steve Lukather, David Paich and Bobby Kimball still sound great after many years of great music. Nice power ballad by Steve on "Simple Life." Really enjoyed this diverse album, thanks guys for your great music. Submitted by David (Middletown, NJ USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
The best in 10 years I agree with most of the above and also saw this awesome band in Melbourne last year. Its testament to the diversity and incredible standard of this album that I am writing this a year later. The diversity and musicianship is incredible and EVERY song is top notch. Melodicrock Dot com gave this 100 and I would have to say that is the best album I have brought over the last 10 years and that is in a collection of 600 covering prog, thrash, jazz, rock, blues etc etc. I cant wait for the live DVD and to see this band across. Its a pity they havent been up to this standard for a while but the next one will be huuuge! Lukather should make the Guitar mags hall of fame for allrounder as he has got everything covered. Sensational...BUY! Submitted by Andy (Adelaide, South Australia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

It should be known that these nine songs are purely instrumentals, ...

Falling In Between
$21.35 Songwriting and production team Ashford & Simpson are responsible for hits by soul superstars such as Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye, and Aretha Franklin, penning the classics "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," "Let's Go Get Stoned," and "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing," among others. But Ashford & Simpson were recording stars in their own right, with a discography that stretches from the early 1960s to the 2000s.
WARNER BROTHER YEARS collects the work the duo did for the label through the 1970s and into the early `80s, focusing on originals ("Everybody's Got to Give It Up"), 12-inch mixes (like the disco treatments of "Over and Over" and "Nobody Knows"), and contemporary remixes (such as Dim's Club Mix of "Stay Free"). The full stylistic range of the talented couple (yes, they're married) is on display as well, from classic `60s soul, to pulsing disco, to contemporary R&B.
