Come Closer is Tarkan's first English-language album after several years as a Madonna-level superstar in his native Turkey. With his well-scrubbed, boyish looks, blue-eyed-soul voice and fondness for ear-grabbing, gimmicky arrangements a la the Neptunes, Tarkan comes across like a Turkish Justin Timberlake. On the best parts of Come Closer, particularly the first single "Bounce" and the insistently catchy "Why Don't We (Aman Aman)" (which comes complete with a cameo by Wyclef Jean), Tarkan strikes a delicate balance between creamy dance-pop goodness and cheesy, over-produced plasticity. A few songs fall too far on the wrong side of that balance, such as the irritating "Start the Fire" and the hyperactive, Black Eyed Peas-like "Don't Leave Me Alone," but on songs like the snaky electro-belly dance "Shikidim" and the dreamy love jam of a title track, Tarkan makes all the right moves. Much as happened when Shakira did the English-language crossover with Laundry Service, longtime fans and pan-cultural hipsters might blanch at how thoroughly Americanized this take on commercial dance-pop is, but fans of the form will find much to love regardless. ~ Stewart Mason

Yeah, I do believe thart Tarkan rules!!! Come Closer is simply awesome, it mixes very well the Western and Eastern sounds in a delightful manner!!! Wow, I love it!!!

I have known Tarkan's music for a while. But, at the moment, i am entering a new stage of loving Tarkan. He is great whether he sings his Turkish pop song, Classical Turkish song or in English. His Come closer is great! In sum, Tarkan can do anything, can sing anything, can entertain, can be a nice human being! and his eyes just kill!
P.S. Tarkan, please do a Classical Turkish album! You sing those songs so well. I do not understand Turkish, but I listen to them, because the music is the same as in my culture!

Tarkan!... what can i say for him?? It's a real star and i don't care because he is turkish (I am greek!)... He have a gun.....and this gun shoot my ears again and again with his music and... tell us "Come closer........and make love not WAR babies!! GREAT!! Antonios-Athens!

I like Tarkan Music from a long time coz he used many different musical cultures(Arabic,Turkish,Indian and occidental music..).
By the way my name is Tarek and i am from Tunisia,i am trying now to learn Turkish and i like Tarkan song GÜLÜMSE KADARINE.with his new Album,i found he is a real superstar especially the song Leave me Alone.Bravo Tarkan

If catharsis is the name of the game, then Cat Power (AKA Chan Marshall) handily achieves this goal with YOU ARE FREE, her first studio album of original material since 1998's MOON PIX.
