Chris started playing guitar while in high school, taking lessons, learning off records and playing at open jams on the Jersey Shore. He wrote his first song,"USO Girl", when he was 25 and kept writing when he bought his eight track recorder. Chris recorded all the instruments and songs on "Peace of Work". He learned to play the drums during sit-ins with other musician friends and switched off on other instruments, when necessary. He likes the work of Burt Bacharach, The Who, Stones and Beatles and feels his music is in that vein. When Chris recorded "Peace of Work", he only used three effects, overdrive,reverb and chorus. On some songs,like "As in Singing the Blues", he did not use any effect and got a clear, direct sound, which I feel is very clean. Chris wrote"Mexico", out of the simpler ways life can be, as unrealistic as it may seem.Most of the other cuts, Chris says, were inspired by his blues background of being uninspired. "Love to Save" AND "Beacon's Light" were two exceptions. He got the idea for both songs from living at the shore."Beacon's Light" was written about a fishing trip in mid-winter, and "Love to Save" was written generally about the good times of summer.
